I'm re-reading LOTR for fun since I haven't done it in a couple years. I was playing around with google auto-complete and tried "why does gandalf" and got "Why does Gandalf say 'Fly you fools'" I thought it was funny people would think he literaly meant "fly". But someone said "maybe he meant use the great eagles to drop the ring into Mordor instead of walking you fools." I know it's funny that it could have saved them aaaaaall that time but...wouldn't an archer just shoot down the eagle and Frodo? Random yes but...yeah I digress here.:smalleek:

The Eagles thing has come up many times. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yqVD0swvWU&feature=fvst)

The problems with it are that the Eagles would try to take the ring, and that Sauron would not only notice them flying into Mordor but has both archers (as you mentioned) and Nazgul riding Fell Beasts to take them down.

I think that is a quote from a parody someone had made
