People say that, in regard to their racial traits, they suck compared to other races like humans and dwarves.

What if, in addition to their PHB traits, they gained...

+5ft. speed (and the +2 jump that comes with it)
+2 Charisma
Favored Class (Sorcerer)

...?

Not too much?

They become one of the top choices for sorcerer, although the con penalty still hurts just as much. It's the same reason Grey Elves just aren't as good wizards as other races. The con penalty hurts.

Meh, they're untouchable after a certain point. No use for that Con score then.

So, we're making Spellscales, already strong races, obsolete?

Spellscales are still better sorcerers actually, because of their meditations, which effectively give them a free feat they can swap out every day (e.g. unlimited free Still Spell, unlimited free Silent Spell, able to use cure X wands/scrolls without UMD checks etc.) Counting as a dragon allows for potent bonuses, as well.

Sorceror? Are we going with magic in their blood flavor?

Spellscales are obsolete anyway (Lesser Aasimar).

I wouldn't go that far - there are times when (dragonblood) is better to have than (planetouched) after all (e.g. PAO into a true dragon.)

And again, the meditations are useful.

+1. The meditations allow certain characters to bypass restrictions they couldn't as a lesser aasimar. Some DMs also feel aasimar and their kin are faerun-restricted, which limits their utility a smidge.
