View Full Version : Powers, any and all.

I'm making a new RPG currently, and need a list of powers, abilities and effects. Any and all sources welcome whether they be DnD, mythology, or what ever else comes to mind.

The idea is that you play as a human who is slowly turning into a mystical beast, you then combine base traits (petrifying ability, breath powers, claws, fangs, etc.) to create Different powers. Think of it as a game based around epic casting.

Well I already got those, I was looking for something I may have missed or may not have thought of.

This is a difficult question, because I'm not quite sure want you're asking. All magical and psudomagical effects? All spells and spell-like abilities? All potential sources of semimagical abilities?

Right off hand, I can think of spellweaving, spellsong, divination, summoning, teleporting, necromancy, demon-binding, possession, inate spellcraft, truespeech, psionics, mutation, technomagic, elementalism, influencing natural magical channels, and deityhood. I'm sure there are plenty more ways to cast a spell, so to speak.

How about Ancestor Spirit channeling, where the spirits of you ancestors grant you knowledge or power by co inhabiting your body.

The ability to turn into a truck, and then back into a robot.

Check out The Hero System? It has rules for making generic versions (flavored however you like) to do just about everything you could ever want.

Generic powers are generic, however, which means the imagination part is up to you.
