Draconic Kobolds are Kobolds who show a stronger connection to dragons than their counterparts. They look healthier and more confident than other Kobolds and their scales are almost uniformly of the color of their parent dragon(including how the dragon's scale color varies with age).

Draconic Kobolds are rare happenings, and quickly gain power within their respective tribes. Unlike other Kobolds however, they show no interest in the expansion of the tribe. They often leave the clan to go gain power on their own. They disdain other Kobolds and view them as vastly inferior.

Draconic Kobold Racial traits

-2 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Wisdom. Draconic Kobolds get the dragon's natural toughness, but retain the physical weakness of other Kobolds and are so full of themselves that their judgement tends to be clouded
Small: As a Small creature, a kobold gains a +1 size bonus
to Armor Class, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –4 size
penalty on grapple checks, and a +4 size bonus on Hide
checks, but she uses smaller weapons than humans use,
and her lifting and carrying limits are three-quarters of
those of a Medium character.
Humanoid (dragonblood, reptilian): Kobolds are humanoids
with the dragonblood and reptilian subtypes. For all
effects related to race, a kobold is considered a dragon.
Kobold base land speed is 30 feet.
+1 natural armor bonus.
Darkvision: Kobolds can see in the dark up to 30 feet.
Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise
like normal sight. Kobolds can function just fine with
no light at all.
+1 racial bonus to Spot and Listen. Draconic Kobolds have the keen senses of a Dragon
Bonus feat: Dragonwrought Kobold. However, since Draconic Kobold grow fast in power, it is impossible for them to have more Age Categories(see chart below) than their HD(including class levels)+3. So a Draconic Kobold Sorcerer 3 can't be older than 20 years old.
Automatic Language: Draconic. Bonus Languages: Common, Undercommon, and either Aquan, Auran, Ignan or Terran, depending on the breath type of their Dragon ancestor.
Favored Class: Sorcerer

Is this too powerful?
I know that compared to other Kobolds it might be, but compared to other races?

So you take the best race for sorcerers, give them a feat they would all take for free, give them better stat adjustments, (oddly) remove their natural attacks and sleight build things (unless you just didn't know about them), and don't give them LA?

Of course it's too powerful. The only thing that isn't a straight upgrade of an already good race is the fact that there's a stupid fluff requirement on how old you have to be that prevents venerable draconic kobolds at levels 1-8.

Also, what purpose does this serve? Homebrew should have a point, but this only seems to be screaming "Make kobolds better!" when they already have great support from RotD and the web enhancement making them very powerful for sorcerers anyway.

Other kobolds can be dragonwrought and old right away, granting bonuses to mental ability scores and other things. :smallcool:

Kobolds are powerful.

I haven't really looked much at the mechanics though. Sorry about that.

It gives them Dragonwrought for free, has better stat mods than the normal kobold, and is pretty much explicitly a true dragon, so at least the RAW debates wouldn't get clouded over this (or at least, less clouded, anyway). It's better than a normal dragonwrought kobold if you happen to need a spare feat and/or are above level 9, at which point it's strictly better for sorcerers.

The age thing is entirely for balance. All the extra strong benefits from being a Dragonwrought Kobold come from you ignoring aging penalties, or taking epic feats since you are a Dragon of old enough age. Else, Dragonwrought is just a +2 bonus to a skill linked to your heritage.

And don't you find it wrong that you have to take feats to make kobolds a race that is up par with other races?

I agree that the +2 charisma might be overkill.

Which you can do with this at level 9 or above. It doesn't nerf anything.

No, because the feats are absurdly good and they already don't make bad sorcerers. It doesn't make them on par, it makes them strictly superior to other sorcerers (advanced spell progression, free stats, all that good stuff.)
