Is there anything special about that hobgoblin? Is there a previous comic he played a role in (perhaps the one where Redcloak "duels" with the other caster)?

I'm just curious.

It's just the look of a generic cleric. They've been around in various cloak colors since the teens.

Actually, there are even two more of blue-cloaked-goblins (clerics) in the very same comic you posted. ;)

True...but this one was just introduced, and he looks angry. Then again, surrendering when you're winning isn't exactly a happy prospect. :smallamused:

Does anybody know what the rankings are for the goblins? I've seen blue and brown cloak goblins, and of course Redcloak is the head honcho. Are those colors military ranks or are they more like speciality ranks?

Goblin-clerics (from the Dark One) wear coloured cloaks.
It seems that the white cloak is the lowest, then comes brown (they have to do "footwork" and give out the books). Blue (all goblins Redcloak works with a re bluecloakers) seems to be pretty high again and the "Crimson Mantle" is of course unique and marks the High Priest.

The browncloak's probably just for wizards.

Could be.

But they still seem to be "lower" than Bluecloak-goblins.

You know... one stands behind the Bearer of the Crimson Mantle, the other has to carry books.

Haley identified a Browncloak as a wizard here (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0512.html), before he even cast a spell.

I bet the blue cloak is a spy.

Oooh, good find, I hadn't noticed it. So we have white, brown, blue and of course the Crimson mantle.

I'm going to steal a post from the discussion thread , because I hadn't noticed it, but hamishspence made a nice spot check:

The priest of a "demon god" in Dungeon Crawling Fools, has a dark blue grey cloak- he might not be in The Dark One's hierarchy though:

I think he appears here:
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0090.html
and here:
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0105.html
as well, before meeting his demise here:
http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0107.html

Of course, those being very early strips, before the full details of the plot were worked out, it may be not relevant to the current story. Still worth be pointed out, I think.

Also note that the general was purple.

White and blue seem to belong to clerics (we know that "white" for sure from SoD and there always seem to be Bluecloaks around in the church of the Dark One (SoD as well)).

There is also Jirix's darker blue cloak and the former Supreme Leader's teal cloak (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0149.html).

True- though at least one white-cloaked goblin cleric appeared some time before that.

Maybe Greycloak is an ally of Xykon's, rather than a member of The Dark One's clergy?

The Dragon Magazine strips (possibly not canon for the OoTS universe as a whole) have other goblin cults- the Cult of the Bloodied Overlord (reddish-orange cloaks) and the Cult of the Shrouded Overlord (dark blue cloaks)

Since the Shrouded Overlord cultists aren't into sacrifice, but instead "mostly make a big deal out of extinguishing street lamps) the Order don't kill them.
