There are one-use vending machines in this room, the same as the last time you were here.

DM notes:Sheet. (http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=179826)

I seem to have lost the link to my floor 2 map, so Sliver will have to give you the door locations.

There is a door at D-1, and another at D-7. There are vending machines in the room, with a notice that you can use these precisely once.

Tanaric, the last encounter wasn't really finished yet, only some editing you made to make it playable..

Also, I am off soon so don't count on more then one post before I go to sleep :smalltongue:

I guess I'll just say that I buy have two more sacks and a length of (hempen) rope cut in two, then tie the the two new sacks to the old one, to get a sack-pulling mechanism that almost allows me to carry everything, 827.5 lbs to be precise. :smalltongue:

Sliver
2010-02-02, 02:04 AM
I have a test today so I will be online at around 9pm (my time)

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:45 AM
You can post whenever you want and I will reply when I have time, ya know? :smalltongue:

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 10:37 AM
Alright, so with my current setup, I put all the stuff I don't currently need (I do need Armor/Weapons/Pole) in the sacks evenly (always evenly), and I enter the stance Blood in the Water, assume I'm in that stance unless I note otherwise.

I go out the southern door, my regular procedure is to poke EVERYTHING (yes, absolutely everything) encounter that isn't either living/unliving/a construct, from 10ft away, testing to see if it's something hostile, then I proceed to open doors, cross pits, etc.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 10:44 AM
Opening the door reveals a 15ft wide corridor flooded with murky water.

What are your vision methods?

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 11:01 AM
Crap...

uhmm... Lowlight vision? :smalleek:

I didn't close the door yet, and I didn't use the vending machines yet either, can I go back and buy me 3 (and a half) sunrods? Please? :smallfrown:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 11:06 AM
And conveniently, your original post claims you had the sacks, with edit time of right after this post of yours. Sneaky sneaky sneaky!

Sure, so you can see double in the weak illumination zone, meaning you have 60ft of vision.

You see the split east shortly into the flooded hall and that the water ends 50ft into the hall, connecting with a sandy beach.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 11:43 AM
Can I gather the sacks and throw them over the water?

If I can, I do and swim after it, taking 10 on swim checks for 12.

I gave a reason for editing, which was: :p, signifying :smalltongue:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 11:46 AM
How do you keep your sacks from sinking? Are they that light?

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 11:51 AM
the total in the sacks right now is a grappling hook, some rope and a couple sunrods, weighing about 7 or 8 12 lbs, I think I can throw that 50ft, no?

If I can't, I carry the sacks around me, tying them around my waist as I swim, while I'm still at light weight.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 11:55 AM
Alright, so at this point, it doesn't matter.

You spot the anguillian too late, it swimming at you through and attacks through the water with his bone spear:

[roll0]
[roll1] 1-20 miss.
[roll2]

He is attacking you from the water, so you suffer the miss chance as well.

Don't forget you have to roll for swim checks in battle..

Initiative: [roll3]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 12:00 PM
[roll0]

That misses due to miss chance. I make a 5ft 'step' away from it, drawing both my thinblades.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 12:01 PM
You need to roll initiative before you take any actions.. You can't 5ft step in a terrain you don't have a move speed in..

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 12:01 PM
I'll take the 'swim' roll as initiative, rolling a 7, for a result of 15

New swim check: [roll0]

But I don't think it actually works like that though, let's hope it does. :smalltongue:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 12:03 PM
Sure, but you can't 5ft step when you don't have a movement speed relevant..

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 12:15 PM
I then swim 5ft away, drawing the one blade on the way, then draw the other. You get one AoO this way...

Sliver
2010-02-03, 12:24 PM
AoO:

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]

It swims out to the surface and next to you, attacking:

Pincer:
[roll3]
[roll4]

Pincer:
[roll5]
[roll6]

Bite:
[roll7]
[roll8]
If Bite hits he is attached to you.

(remember swim checks every turn)

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:07 PM
All Miss. [roll0] Assuming it is calm water, treading has DC10-4:6 :smalltongue:

Attack with both swords.
[roll1]
[roll2]
[roll3]

[roll4]
[roll5]
[roll6]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:12 PM
Your first attack hits. I will note that the creature is at the surface of the water so you don't suffer the miss chance.

Again attacks:
[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

[roll4]
[roll5] + he is attached to you.

Remember you don't have dex to ac when you fail the swim check..

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:14 PM
Second one hits, no more. [roll0]

Attack again, with both blades.
[roll1]
[roll2]

[roll3]
[roll4]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:15 PM
The second one hit.

[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

[roll4]
[roll5] + attached.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:20 PM
Attached... now what exactly?

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:21 PM
Well, same as always.. You can remove it through grapple or kill it.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:24 PM
escape artist then?

if so: [roll0]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:24 PM
No. You can't do that. Either you grapple it, and eventually pin it down and then remove it, or you kill it. No other way.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:34 PM
Kill it then...

Slash it some more with my blades.
[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:40 PM
You horribly miss.

It deals automatic damage:
[roll0]
[roll1] - Con damage.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:46 PM
Keep attacking it! :smalleek:

[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 01:48 PM
It looks badly hurt, but is still attached:

[roll0]
[roll1] - Con damage.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 01:49 PM
Disabled...

I guess we'll start over then? :smallfrown::smallredface:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:09 PM
Yeah, sure.. (thought I posted that one..)

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 02:16 PM
Alright, tying the sacks to myself, I make a great leap, then swim straight forward to the end, hoping the guy's too surprised by my jump to attack while I get to the other side. [roll0] Precisely halfway. :smalltongue:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:17 PM
What is your swim speed?

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 02:18 PM
um... 15ft per round, so I take 2 rounds to get there after the jump

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:20 PM
You are 5ft away when you are caught from behind by the eel's spear attack:

[roll0]
[roll1] miss on 1
[roll2]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 02:25 PM
Double miss. :smalltongue:

[roll0] to the end, taking the withdraw action.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:26 PM
You reach out of the water. It follows you out and attacks again:

[roll0]
[roll1]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 02:34 PM
Miss, I 5ft step back, and draw both my blades. the large blade, I changed tactics. :smallwink:

Since I then have a move action left, I move back another 15ft.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:35 PM
He steps after you and attacks:

[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

[roll4]
[roll5] + attached

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 02:45 PM
Are you going to confirm that critical?

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:46 PM
... nO!

[roll0]
[roll1]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 02:56 PM
That's a hit (Really?) but no confirm.

Attack two-handed:
[roll0]
[roll1]

Then [roll2] around the guy.

you get an AoO. :smallannoyed:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 02:58 PM
Miss.

AoO:
[roll0]
[roll1]

Before I ask, why you tumble around him? You have some ability? He isn't between you and the door or something..

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:16 PM
I know that, but I tumble so that he only gets one attack a turn, and I can't keep tumbling back, so I tumble around constantly.

After tumbling, I enter stance of clarity. :smallwink:

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:18 PM
{table]_|A_|B_|C_
1|||
2||1|
3||2|
4|X||X[/table]

He is at 1, you are 2. Where you tumble to, exactly?

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:22 PM
Alright...

I'll do my failed tumble to B4, drawing my medium blade as well.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:24 PM
Oh wait, the sandy beach is 30ft long and ends with a door.. I really need to get the copy of the map again.. You move further then?

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:27 PM
if I can, definitely. All while drawing my medium blade.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:29 PM
I assume you wont go more then 10ft away to keep him from being able to 5ft to you but still have some room to go back, right? (you can do that maneuver again once, before having to tumble around him.. Which is 20ft of movement at least, so you won't be able to attack and tumble that far unless you have 40ft speed)

[roll0]
[roll1]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:33 PM
That's right, I do the same trick again.

This time however, I use Wolf Fang Strike, to attack with both blades as a standard action.

[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

Next time I will take the full attack just to be able to do it again twice afterward.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:34 PM
If you tumble again, shouldn't you roll for the tumble?:smallconfused:

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:34 PM
And confirming the crit:
[roll0]
[roll1]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:35 PM
of course: [roll0] Sorry.

Though he might die anyway, not sure...

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:37 PM
With a single hit? You dealt 17 damage so far, last time you dealt more and he didn't die yet then..

It charges you:

[roll0]
[roll1]

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:42 PM
I don't count too much, I'm lazy remember? :smallwink:

Hit, I'm at 2/15. :smalleek:

Using Sapphire Nightmare blade on this one, dropping the medium blade to grip the large one two-handed.
[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2] DC=AC
[roll3]

If the concentration is a success, he's flat-footes, if fail, -2 to the attack and do extra damage.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:44 PM
and of course I'd forget tumble again... [roll0]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:44 PM
You fail to catch him off guard but score a hit.

[roll0] Only this one counts then.. +2 for charge.
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

[roll4]
[roll5] + attached.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:54 PM
Miss, and next tumble is around him, for full attack after a 5ft step on his part.

Using Stone Bones this time.
[roll0]
[roll1]

if hit, I have DR 5/Adamantine

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 03:55 PM
and I always seem to forget the tumble... [roll0]

Sliver
2010-02-03, 03:59 PM
Defeated. 300xp, his spear and you find sticking in the sand a chest containing 9000cp.

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 04:03 PM
I take the spear and put 3000cp in each sack before moving on, picking up my medium blade as I do it. Once again, I enter stance of Blood in the Water.

I'll keep track of my loot this time.

Sliver
2010-02-03, 04:10 PM
I'm going to sleep. It is also better this way because I don't have the map in front of me..

Lubirio
2010-02-03, 04:12 PM
I shall post tomorrow when I get back from school to trigger subscription again, then. :smallwink::smalltongue:

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/6299/room2pq.th.jpg (http://img8.imageshack.us/my.php?image=room2pq.jpg)[/QUOTE]

Here is the entire map of the second room, star is a note. You entered through the door that is second from the left.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 10:04 AM
Sorry, I'm confused, what does everything signify exactly, what are the doors, etc.?

Sliver
2010-02-04, 10:07 AM
Yellow is sandy beach. Blue is water. Gray are pillars (some thicker then others.)

Doors are those that squares that look like half the size or have a black line in the middle (like the one at the southern most part of the map)

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 10:09 AM
I see, so where am I standing right now?

Sliver
2010-02-04, 10:11 AM
Anywhere on the sandy beach. You came to the room from the second door from the left (the first room and halls are located in the upper left dark part of the map)

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 10:28 AM
:smallconfused:

:smallconfused: ... :smallconfused:

OH! I see, this is the room I enter!, I go around and go to the door all the way on the right of the map.

Sliver
2010-02-04, 10:39 AM
You enter into a room 15ft wide that extends for 50ft before ending with a door (regular, 5ft wide). The room lacks floor and looks pretty bottomless. There is a platform, 15ft wide (meaning it goes from the northern to the southern side) that covers the first 5ft of the room (doesn't reach the other door) made out of force. On the southern side above the platform is a note, and on the northern above the platform is a button with something written on it. On the other side of the room in front of the door is a small 5ft platform.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 10:48 AM
There's no water either, nothing?

I move over to the note, reading it without stepping onto the platform, if I can: [roll0]

Sliver
2010-02-04, 10:50 AM
You pretty much can't..

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 10:53 AM
not even with a spot like that?

I then move onto the platform to read the note. (:smalleek:)

Sliver
2010-02-04, 10:56 AM
“Take the leap of faith for great glory and greater reward.”

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:00 AM
is there anything written near the button? (yes, I walk over there)

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:02 AM
No, but it appears to have something written on the button:smalltongue:

“Push me if you're afraid to jump.”

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:03 AM
What does that say then? :smallsigh::smalltongue:

Edit: I push the button. :smallwink:

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:08 AM
Nothing seems to happen.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:12 AM
I keep it pressed for 1 minute, if that fails, I try to climb sideways? :smallconfused:

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:13 AM
Climb.. Sideways..? How?

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:16 AM
Quote from the Climb skill description:

Check
With a successful Climb check, you can advance up, down, or across a slope, a wall, or some other steep incline (or even a ceiling with handholds) at one-quarter your normal speed. A slope is considered to be any incline at an angle measuring less than 60 degrees; a wall is any incline at an angle measuring 60 degrees or more.

I think that works, right?

what's the wall's climb DC?

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:18 AM
20 An uneven surface with some narrow handholds and footholds, such as a typical wall in a dungeon or ruins.

Seems reasonable. 1 failed attempt and you totally fall.. You think that is one of the ways that thing was supposed to be crossed?

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:24 AM
no, but improvisation is usually rewarded...

and if I fail by 4 or less I don't fall, I just don't more forward,

So Let's try it then!

it's 45 from where I am currently, and I move 15ft per round, so I need 6 climb checks above 20, none below 16, doable. :smalleek:

[roll0]
[roll1]
[roll2]
[roll3]
[roll4]
[roll5]
[roll6]
[roll7]
[roll8]
[roll9]

I don't dare look, so you tell me if I succeed.

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:28 AM
It's actually 50ft because the platform at the far end isn't next to the wall..

You fall to your doom.. That was a weird thing to do..

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:31 AM
I hope I can start over from entering this room?

If so: I push the button and hold it for 10 minutes...

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:38 AM
Alright.. Then what?

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:42 AM
I stomp on the platform...

Then try to jump desperately: [roll0]

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:44 AM
From what position?

Beginning of the room:

{table]_|A_|B_|..
1|X||
2|X||
3|X||[/table]

Door is outside A2.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 11:51 AM
Um, I guess from A2?

Sliver
2010-02-04, 11:55 AM
Alright, you try to leap, but instead make on of the saddest hops ever known to any race that can jump. You find yourself on something solid on B2, without anything visible holding you above the bottomless pit.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 12:00 PM
I test the air in front of me to see if it's solid, if is, I keep going the same way.

But then, when there's only another 5ft between me and the visible platform, I make a running start to the 5ft gap, and jump right into the door! [roll0]

Sliver
2010-02-04, 12:01 PM
Your pointless jump is a success. You are at the door!

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 12:02 PM
I poke it, then open it. :smalltongue:

Sliver
2010-02-04, 12:12 PM
This is what you see:

http://img52.imageshack.us/img52/2179/29095500.th.jpg (http://img52.imageshack.us/i/29095500.jpg/)

Yellow dot is a storm cloud (small). F are platforms. (this is only part of the room you currently see)

initiative: [roll0]

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 12:19 PM
[roll0]

If I win init, I drop the sacks, move towards the junction drawing my large blade, then draw my medium blade.

Sliver
2010-02-04, 12:21 PM
The thing charges you, trying to slam attack:

[roll0]
[roll1]+[roll2]

In addition, he shocks you, dealing [roll3] nonlethal electricity damage, fort DC12 for half.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 12:29 PM
Is the shock only if his attack hits or regardless?

I attack with both my blades
[roll0]
[roll1]

[roll2]
[roll3]

Sliver
2010-02-04, 12:32 PM
Regardless.

I will point out that you didn't win initiative so you didn't draw your weapons yet.. Also you can't move forward because he is in front of you and you can't move past him (unless you tumble..)

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 01:03 PM
Oh right.

5ft step back, then draw both weapons. I don't think I'm going to make it... :smallfrown:

Sliver
2010-02-04, 01:06 PM
The cloud moves back 5ft and charges up, releasing a blast of thunder and lightning:

[roll0] sonic
[roll1] electricity

And adds a little shock: [roll2] fort12 halves.

Lubirio
2010-02-04, 01:07 PM
That has me dead. :smalleek:

This character was a nice concept, but I think I need to reconsider my choices and go back and start on the first level with a new character, sorry for wasting so much time.

Sliver
2010-02-04, 01:10 PM
Nah, I still hate this floor so might as well practice DMing it.. You did die awfully fast though...

Starting with a new character first doesn't give you much advantage.. But good luck anyway..
