I was looking at Da Rules (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/announcement.php?f=54&a=1) and saw that the announcement was dated "10-20-2006 until 12-27-210". What exactly does that mean?

Do the rules expire in late December or something? :smalltongue:

You are free to do whatever you want past 210. Oh wait. :smallamused:

No, seriously. 12-27-2010, you are allowed to do anything you want, until they post the rules revision (which Roland has talked about...somewhere). :smallwink:

I recommend setting things on fire.

Interesting, mine says 10-21-2006 until 12-28-2010.

This is just a guess on my part here, but I suspect that in creating the Announcement, they were required to give some sort of timeliness for how long to keep it up there and 12-28-2010 was the longest they could do it due to limitations of the forum software.

Having never used vBulletin on the administrative end I can't say this definitively, but no other forum software I've used (and it's been a fair sized list) has required a time limit on announcements, and I don't see a reason why the software would require it.

As for the date discrepancy, it probably has something to do with the time zones your accounts are set to.

I think the staff are coming up with revised rules. Roland St. Jude mentioned something about it a little back.

I don't know why I didn't think of the time zones for the date thing. It seems so obvious now that you've said it.

Roland St. Jude mentioned something about it a little back.Indeed, they're always looking to revise The Rules for clarity and consistency, however, I've never known them to actually set a date for when the revision will be out. Certainly not one that far out.

I recall reading a post from Roland saying that they were seeking new mods, maybe this is their intended decision date?

Or perhaps it marks the end of WampaX's hiatus.

Or maybe everyone was wrong and the world will actually end in late 2010 rather than 2012.

Maybe...

Edit: My maths skills are always in question (even for simple stuff), but the duration seems to equal 50 months. Has this ever been mentioned for rules before?

Countdown to project: omega, of course.

What is the project? Classified.

What do you think I do everyday when I wake up?

The "Post Announcement" feature does, indeed, ask for an end date. The date given is just what was entered when the announcement was created. Reading anything more into it would lead to erroneous conclusions.
