For an upcoming campaign, I'm going to be an enchanter. I am aware this is a suboptimal choice, it's for a good reason (to help the DM, so that he can easily make my character ineffective if the other PCs get bored).

In any case, I need to know prestige classes that focus on enchantment. Better yet, is there some webpage somewhere that already has a list of all prestige classes, and (in a word or 3) what they focus on?

Well for a 1 level dip Mindbender is optimal to get telepathy and possibly mindsight.... there is focused specialist and then master specialist... posibly going into archmage with a focus on enchantment

I personally like mind bender for all 10 levels even though you loose caster levels. IMO you get enough back to make up for it. You could also make a ultimate magus with beguiler to stay away from mad. In that case you may want to prohibit illusion and enchantement and pick up a "free" specialization.

Rather than optimizing a character to the point where the DM feels the need to nerf you (and I applaud you choosing a character where he can do this easily without accidentally overpowering the others in the party), why don't you just not optimize?

Don't prestige out unless it will net you loss in caster level. Don't use the majority of spells that allow a wizard to auto-win.

Where is this Vow of Peace, and what does it do?

Master Specialist in Complete Mage could be used as filler, but definitely take at least four levels in it. I agree wholeheartedly that Mindbender 1 will be good to have. Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil is never a bad choice, and you could easily qualify for Archmage if you'd even want it. Loremaster or Incantatrix can also fill out your build. Maybe even go with an Illumian (Krau) Beguiler 1/ Enchanter 4/ Ultimate Magus 10/ whatever, which loses only one level of Wizard spellcasting overall. Use Versatile Spellcaster to use Beguiler spell slots to spontaneously cast any Wizard spell it's ever made the Spellcraft check to understand. Take Able Learner and it can be the party's skillmonkey as well.

BoED,
Prereque is sacred vow (wich sucks, and is a feat tax for feats wich have heavy drawback of there own), and vow of nonviolence.
Vow of peace (stacks wih vow of nonviolence)
it gives you bonuses to AC, and the chance that an enemies weapon will shatter upon hitting you. and some othjer things. i can't propperly remember
In exchange you give up the ability to hurt anyone.
(you may be able to do nonleathal i can't remember)

Since nobody has addressed this part of the OP, I'll jump in & handle it. Here's the consolidated list of (almost) every WotC-published prestige class (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lists/prc), all 782 of them. Enjoy.

Nightmare Spinner's enchantment-adaptation is quite solid for an enchanter; some abilities to affect normally immune opponents. Other than that, one level of Mindbender; the first level is great, but the rest of the class sucks since you basically lose ½ casting and gain few spell-likes instead of actual spells.

Master Specialist: Enchanter is really lame beyond the Minor School Esoterica, which can be occasionally handy (and Greater Spell Focus, of course). Soo yeah, 4 or 0 levels in that.
