If you say, had a deck of many things or something, and got the ability to learn (with tangible proof if requested) any one fact, about any one person, who has ever existed what would you want to know?

Me:
Person - Whoever designed Stonehenge's original form.
What I want to know - WHY!!! (It has been on my mind since childhood. :smallfrown:)

Not sure if my answer is in the spirit of the question, but here it is:

Person - Me.
What I want to know - The exact purpose of my life.

I mean, I *think* I have a couple of decent guesses about that, but it would be nice to have independent confirmation...

Amen right there, amen. I wish I could know such a thing. Alternatively,

Person: Me
What I wish to learn: The time, place, and manner of my death.

This gives me the knowledge to live freely, knowing when I am fated to go.

me: What am I doing?

I'd probably tell my self "Do you really expect me to know?"

Either who wrote the Voynich manuscript and why, or whether there is a God.

By asking "God, do you exist?" :smalltongue:

Also.... I'd ask what the sound of one hand clapping was. Then I'd become unto a god. :smallcool:

Yes. Besides, if he doesn't answer, I know what the answer is but never technically got one, which means I can find out about the manuscript anyway. Maybe.

If it's not personal I can ask them. If it is personal, it's none of my business.

Alternatively, it may just lead you to spend your days trying to prevent it.

For me? The person who draws powerball numbers for my area.

To know.. well what numbers s/he will draw next.

I'd figure out some disturbing, secret fact about someone with power and/or money and blackmail them.

Can I know one thing from everyone, provided it's the same one thing?

Because I'd love to be able to know what everyone thinks of me all the time.

An Infinite Perspective Machine you can't leave? Ouch. (btw--who are you again?)

Hm. . .I'll go to Vienna in 1241, or maybe Rome in 476, find a wealthy citizen who has buried his treasures in panic, and know the location of the hoard. If we have to pay for knowledge with knowledge, then I'll let him know that his city's sacrifice will halt the barbarians, and the way of life he knows won't be snuffed out.

Either: The exact traceable identity of the single person in the whole world whom it would be best for me to pursue a relationship with (my "perfect match", if you will).

Or: The identity of the best possible friend I could make in the world (hard to say which is more important, or whether they'd be mutually exclusive).

Or: Where the person who buried the most valuableextant hidden treasure horde yet to be found buried their stash.

Or: (Because I had to have something of purely academic interest) When the first person whom modern genetics would judge to be of the same species as myself was born.

Probably I'd be selfish enough to go for either the first or second of these, but not the third, on reflection. Money can't buy you love...

George Mallory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Mallory#Reaching_the_summit): did he reach the summit?

I'd ask what the sound of one hand clapping was. Then I'd become unto a god. :smallcool:

"CL-" IIRC. The other hand makes the "-AP" noise. :smallwink:

I would like to know how the person who answers this question gets his answers.

Don Julio Anejo

Who killed Kennedy and where's Waldo.

The same sound as the other hand.

Current thinking suggests it's some sort of lunar calendar tracker and that the original structure was much bigger than the standing stones currently on the site.

I'd personally like to know who the bookies have decided on to win the Grand National this year, so I can rake it in.

Eh, it keeps going back and forth between solar, lunar, and/or both. Plus a ton of others.

The truth is we will never know, since no one is thought to still be around from then. :smallfrown:

The one fact I would want to know?

Person- He who can give me limitless power.
Fact- How to get him to give me this power.

I'd go with the "true nature of God" angle, personally.

If that's too abstract, I'd ask O.J. if he did it. I mean, we all know the answer, but I'd like a confirmation.

Alternatively, because this is a Pika thread:

Person: Admiral Ackbar
Question: What is it?
Answer:http://instanttrap.com/trap.jpg (http://instanttrap.com/)

Raiki
2010-02-14, 09:20 PM
Person: Father.
Fact: Either full name or current location would do just fine.

Alternatively.

Person: Man who invented the most income producing new invention this decade.

Fact: His design schematics.

Depending on whether or not I'm in a reflective or proactive mood.

Most of the facts I would know, such as important things in my future or information about the people around me would most likely just be painful to find out. So I think I would learn what the true cause(s) of my depression is, maybe then I could set about being free of it.
