When Redcloak lost his eye, and told not to regenerate it, my first thought was 'how cool would it be if some of the top goblin/hobgoblin generals became Eyes of the Dark One?'

Essentially, it would just be a goblin version of the Eye of Gruumsh (http://www.orcs.ca/orcsmain/roleplaydndeye.html) prc.

I really think/hope Jirix, and other higher up goblin officers, become these elite, pious warriors.

It totally fits with the whole theocratic, military regime of the goblin empire; a bunch of faith driven generals sacrifice one of their eyes out of respect and admiration for their holy leader in the service to The Dark One? That is awesome, and a sickeningly similar parallel to the Sapphire Guard--minus the eye gouging, obviously.

What do you guys think of this crack hypothesis/demented wish? Did anyone have a similar thought:smalltongue:?

The Dark One having both of HIS eyes might be a problem.

At least, until we send O-Chul after him.

Gruumsh only has one eye. That's why the Eye of Gruumsh class makes sense.

This doesn't make sense.

Perhaps the "Spleen of the Dark One" would work better, judging by his death...

they could paint their skin blue and become the flesh of the dark one?

No. The skin would have to be purple.

I understand that the Dark One still has two eyes, but as the carrier of the Crimson Mantle, Redcloak is like the earthly will of the Dark One.

I just thought it would be cool.

"Bearer of the Crimson Mantle" might make for a cool prestige class, but I think Redcloak is just a straight cleric.

i wonder. is the crimsion mantle limited to only goblins? or is their an equivilent to it for bugbears and hobgoblins?

Given that the Dark One is the patron diety of goblinoids, I'm guessing that anything with the subtype (Goblinoid) can become a bearer of the crimson mantle.

Although it might be awkward to have a Bugbearer of the Crimson Mantle :smalltongue::smalltongue:

Then they'd get punched by Batman. Through space-time!

Dark One not equals Gruumsh

I think Miko coming back as a death knight is a better possibility.

Have we ever even seen a bugbear at any point in the strip? I want to say we have, but I can't recall where...

There is one in the crayon section of SoD, but not online AFAIK.
