View Full Version : Wizard Spell Options Chart?

Is there anything along the lines of a chart I can reference when I'm looking for specific kinds of spells?

Example:

"I sure would like to target this guys Fort save."

You then look up "Targets Fort Save" then "Level 2 Spells" and they are listed by school.

OR

"I could go for a Direct Damage spell."

Look up "Direct Damage" then "Level 5 Spells"

If there is nothing like this, I'm thinking seriously about trying to make one (but would need help finding everything). If it already exists, sweet.

Not a chart per se but very handy: http://www.imarvintpa.com/DnDLive/FindSpell.php

What you are asking for is a spell database. Luckily, one exists (http://www.imarvintpa.com/DnDLive/index.php)

Cool, good stuff. How extensive is it? I see it has a lot of options for search criteria, but does it have all or most of the spells and whatnot?

Have a look for yourself (http://www.imarvintpa.com/DnDLive/Index_Sources.php)

My guess would be that it's core only, as that's what was released for OGL.

Given that it's been linked three times in four posts, there's no excuse for "my guess".

It's not perfect, but it's got a terrifying amount. Some of the search terms don't work quite right due to how finicky they are and how many different variations authors have used. Still, it's darn good.

I still wish I could do, like, 3rd level battlefield control vs will or something, but that requires more search terms, not to mention terms that aren't purely mechanical (which, while it could be useful, brings in pesky things like 'judgment').

I can basically approximate what I want anyway, but I'll miss some spells sometimes. Oh well.

Here (http://www.penpaperpixel.org/tools/d20spellfilter/) is another; see if it's more to your taste.

Unfortunately, that one appears to be Core-only.
