Welcome, one and all, to MAGIC THE GATHERING: DUEL OF LENGENDS! Run by me and conarrated by Shadowcaller, this will be the most straightforward of the games that I’ve designed – we’ve got clear-cut win conditions, a standard wolf group, masons, a seer, a baner… the whole shebang. But it wouldn’t be a Festy game without a TWEEST, now would it?

Oh, you want to know what the TWEEEST is, do you? Well, all right then, if you insist. The TWEEEEEEST is that in this game, every player has a unique role name. That doesn’t mean everyone has a unique ROLE, though. It just means that even players who don’t have a role will scry as something unique, and scries and deaths will reveal a flavor-based name that doesn’t necessarily 100% correspond with the role’s abilities. There might be a sniper, a feuder, and a wolf, but you wouldn’t know for sure which role is which just by looking at their role names (though if you can figure out the theme behind the wolf’s team, you might). The goal of this is to encourage paranoia and allow the addition of a number of secret roles.
Obviously, to avoid role-claiming shenanigans, I won’t be revealing the whole list of names – or even the whole list of roles. I’ll be recruiting 30 players for the game, which should start around the 22nd. Sign up, and prepare for a game unlike any you’ve ever played before!

Apologies for massive, two-week delay. The game is all but ready to start (I need to write… what, one and a half more PMs?) but frankly I'm too tired right now to get a good starting scene and it would throw off my schedule anyways, since I can only update between 7:00 and 11:00 PM EST (whereas it is currently 12:45 PM EST), so I'd have to add something like 20 hours to the day to make it fit.
Game WILL start tomorrow, come hell, high water, or zombie apocalypse. :smallsmile:
… and in retrospect, I REALLY shouldn't have written such ridiculously complex PMs, but… whatever, it's the only flavor you're going to really get for the roles, so I figured I should at least have it be interesting.

• All role names are the first, flavor-based name in the PM, not the second, more descriptive role. Keep this in mind for any and all disguises and role claims.

I don't like it. We have no way of knowing whether he is a mason or whether 'Crew of the Weatherlight' is actually the name of a wolf team. Nor will we ever have such knowledge, if seer roles just give a role name.

However, a quick google search proves that they're supposed to be heroes, so I guess we'll leave him be for now.

The crew of the Weatherlight were indeed good guys. Whether or not that actually makes FC a mason is questionable, as there's more than a few other options for masons in the MTG universe. Could be one of the Ravnica guilds, for example.

Anyway, I don't want to be part of a day 1 bandwagon so lostlittlebear for order!

I doubt the game is completely analoguous to a normal WW ruleset. For example, my role PM's definition of evil players that I want dead implies there may be multiple groups.

At least a half a dozen figures swarm around Fleeing Coward's camp. Two walk into each other.
"What the… who are you? What are you doing here?"
"Me? I should be asking you the same question!"
"I asked first!"
"Yeah, so? I'm holding an axe, so you tell me first!"
"Hah! You admit you came to Fleeing Coward's camp armed! You're clearly more suspicious!"
"Why you little…"
As the two continue shouting at each other, a third figure slips past them to the side of Fleeing Coward's tent. "Let's see…" RedScholarGypsy mutters to himself, fidgeting with a small device that he had just taken from his pocket. "Aha! I'm finished!" he says, standing up.
"Indeed you are…" whispers a voice from just behind him.
"What the – ?" Redscholargypsy spins around… only to see the knife slicing towards his throat. He collapses. The assassin crouches over the body, grabs a few identifying papers, and flees.
On the other side of the camp, two more figures sneak towards the tent. "I'll go in first," whispers Aemoh to his companion.
"Why you?" whispers the second.
"Well, duh, because I'm invincible," says Aemoh, grinning. He steps forward – and vanishes.
His companion's eyes widen. He steps forward cautiously and then looks down suddenly. Aemoh's body lies at the bottom of a well-concealed pit, impaled on twenty or so nasty-looking spikes. "Right, invincible," mutters the figure, slipping past the pit.
The figure walks casually towards the tent. He ignores the escalating fight beside him, dodges a blast of magic, and politely declines to buy the unpleasant looking sausage-inna-bun. Then, looking around carefully, he slips into the tent itself.
"Aha!" he says. "I've got you now, Fleeing –" It is at this point that his eyes catch up with his mouth and figuratively tap it on its metaphorical shoulder. It seems that, true to his name, the Coward has fled.

Aemoh was killed by a trap. He was Konda, Lord of Eiganjo.
Fleeing Coward was attacked, but survived.
Redscholargypsy was attacked and killed. His role was unable to be determined.

Huh, interesting. I'm looking at the previous night's results, and...I'm not sure. It's certain he was targeted for kill(s) as implied by the narration, and he either has an ability to survive a kill or was baned....so the wolves must have gone after him. Whether he's a mason or not though....I'm not experienced enough at the game to guess at (does FC ALWAYS claim mason? :smallconfused:).

Bahumat, a Simple WW game (such as "Werewolf X - Chilled Blood Becomes Spilled Blood" /selfpromotion )would be much easier :smallsmile: this one apparently has hidden roles, roles related to specific names and of course the whole MTG mythos surrounding it. It makes it extra cool but complicates matters. And FC does not always claim mason. I think the current percentage is 98,78% but he's trying and that is all that matters.
