I'd not make such a costume as it likely will look "very, very cheap and minimalistic". Because, you know, the style *is* pretty minimalistic. ;)

You could basically only wear a cardboard-drum as armour, a cloak, and maybe a round cardbord-head.

Either normal or black form-fitting sleeves and leggings. Probably best just to keep things looking normal. So Elan would probably be short-sleeved white shirt or extend the theme of swash-buckler and have long, baggy Elizabethan-esque shirt sleeves.

People have already done this, AFAIK, and they follow the route of dressing the way the people in the strip would look if they were actually real people. Duplicating the whole round head, stick figure look would be incredibly difficult and would probably look quite rubbish to anyone who didn't know what you were dressed as!
