My birthday is next month and I'm turning 30 (that's a big one) so I want to do something big and a friend of mine suggested a costume party. I've never been to a costume party so that idea really grabbed me. What I would most want to dress as is a fairy so I did some looking around on the internet. It seemed like most of the fairy costumes I've come across are kinda trampy. That is to say, I don't mind showing some skin but a lot of these look like sad lingerie with wings attached. I thought maybe someone here would know of a good place to get costumes (specifically in the US) that look a bit more uh...nerd friendly or more what I would think of as traditional fairies if that makes sense. More mystical, forest pixie, kind of ethereal. Not that I'm picky or anything. Any help would really be appreciated.

Here's a few that at least offer some non-risque options:

There's a lot here so it might take some poking to get through the children's stuff and the risque stuff:

Practical yet highly fae, these are worn a lot by people who take dressing as faeries very seriously:

You could always assemble a costume out of various bits and pieces, that way it wouldn't be any more revealing than you'd want it to be. Plus there's no need to base it on some of the more risqué interpretations of fairies, have a look in children's picture-books for inspiration.

When you find some people who give you a lot of money - could you direct them to me afterwards?
I'd like to be able to afford some stuff from that shop. :smallfrown:

Well, they do seem to make custom stuff, like the jacket for that guy. I wonder how much... >_>

...What? We can't all be ultra-super-awesome costume-makers/hatmen.
