I need to do a school assignment in which I need to create a phylogenetic tree and do some research on one species of animal. I can't decide which one to pick. Which species should I choose?

I'm a big fan of various species of dragonflies. Those are always nice, and there aren't too many, unlike other insect groups. (Bees. My god. I'm doing bees currently.)

the modern horse's lineage is incredibly well documented. so i would go with that or some other domesticated animal.

I second dragonflies. I remember a long time ago seeing a dragonfly the size of my hand on my house once. Course, my hands were smaller then.

Take a wild guess at what I'd suggest...
But foxes do have the interesting point of being a dog with some very cat-like qualities. Could be interesting.

Ichneumon Wasp! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichneumon_wasp)
Or, herpestes ichneumon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egyptian_Mongoose). :smalltongue:
Anyway, I like okapi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okapi). I had no idea a zebra horse giraffe existed before I saw one at the zoo.
Royal Antelope (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_antelope) are probably the most adorable things ever.
Also, turtles are cyoot. :3

Why didn't I think of that?
That's it. I'll take the Egyptian Mongoose!

Pigeons. I'm not joking. Most wild pigeons are descendents from domestic racing pigeons which are pedigreed and recorded

Coatimundi, because it is fun to say. Also related to pandas and raccoons, which is cool.

Not because they're particularly fascinating, I just like em.
