Background

Bercroft Falls

It is a large city, that has grown in the recent years.

Bercroft Falls U is an university at the outskirts of the city. There is a strong emphasis on the natural sciences and personal research.

There is a considerable trade in antiques in the city. It is still possible to find valuable antiques in the nearby villages, gathering dust at the attics.

The crime situation has grow really bad in the recent years. The drug use on the streets is on the raise and there are rumours of the city hall corruption. There were actually several shoot outs with the police, although recently it was pretty calm.

St. Mary’s Hospital was recently renovated and latest medical technology purchased.

A Yi Dojo has trained martial artists for more than thirty years. Recently, as more people are interesting in learning self-defence, a number of new Dojo, were opened. They are mostly of inferior quality, but have better advertisement.

A casino was opened recently, another indicator of financial growth and moral decay. There are rumours that a mob boss is the actual owner of the Casino. Another fashionably disreputable place is a Black Hole Club. It has grown in popularity recently, and a long line at the entrance is a constant every evening.

There are several strange groups operating in the city. They claim that the settlement was constructed on a mystical site and point to the city founder’s rumoured interest in magic. One of such groups is Council of Seers. The tabloids claim the city mayor actually consults them for his important decisions. It’s probably only a rumour. Another strange group is called the Magician’s Guild. They train conjurers, organizes performances, but also claim to hide deeper secrets of the magical arts.

Goatswood

A small town east of the Vern City. There is a railroad that the locals prefer to use as well as a new road being constructed. It is famous for its Goatswood Society of Mental Health. It was established eight years ago by Sir Edgar Verge, who donated a sizeable part of his fortune to construct the Goatswood Asylum.

In the recent years the town experienced an increase in crime, mostly spurred by the industrial boom in the Bercroft Falls. Several shady characters have purchased estates in the sleepy Goatswood and attracted even less respectable people. The Goatswood police department was unprepared for the crime wave and only recently hired new officers and expanded its budget to be able to confront the problem.

Several cases of vigilantism have made newspapers in the recent years. A couple of locals have turned their guns against violent criminals, visiting the town. The Goatswood Firing Range was nearly closed over this incident, and many guns of local farmers were confiscated.

The local church is the centre of local community. It was constructed only several years ago by the donations of the congregation, after the old building was destroyed in a fire.

Destiny Quest I (1 Fate Point to divine, Robert Darkbard/Annie Ranheim free ):

I sure hate to see you go, Professor Callahan.

I just feel I need to move one. That offer from the laboratory in Toronto is just what I need.

So, you’ll be saving the world with science?

More like increasing the share prices and cutting costs for my corporate masters.

Cynic as always.

A professor of physics in the Goatswood University is going to move to Toronto. He will make a series of scientific breakthroughs that would alleviate many of the future crisis’s the human civilisation faces.

Destiny Quest II (1 Fate Point to divine, Linus Moriarty/Annie Ranheim free):

Channel 5, Local News. We now have our own city hero Timothy Bromberg at the studio. The person whose heroic actions have saved 38 lives from the burning building. Can you tell us what you felt, when you made the decision to risk your own life to save others?

Well, Amanda. I’m honestly not a hero material. I’ve never been athletic and I can’t say I am a brave man. Never could ask for that raise. But at that moment I thought, some day Tim, you are going to the place upstairs and you are going to explain all the decisions you’ve made in your life. And well, I didn’t want to feel ashamed of anything, when I would be doing that.

So, you are religious man?

I guess I am. I know I wouldn’t be standing here right now, if I didn’t have something greater than myself lending me strength in those minutes of desperation.

The media story of the Tim Bromberg’s heroic actions would give a small push to many people. Those small pushes in turn would be enough to shift more fates to follow the paths of faith and heroism.

Jack "Deja" Forester - Bond Scene

Jack "Deja" Forester was in the casino trusting to luck to guide his hand at the Roulette wheel. He managed to amass a small fortune and was well on his way to winning when his luck mentioned that it was probably time for him to be leaving. He quickly cashed his chips and walked outside, not knowing what had triggered his powers, but believing that he should check the winds of fate.

Deja knew he had to take action, so much was at stake, the future had to be saved. But first, Deja had to gain the tools he needed to do this. He called up some contacts from the Council of Seers, informing them of his idea, and asking their help, then he began gathering recruits to his cause.

He called his new organization the All Seeing Eye and their purpose was to enlighten humanity and prevent or prepare them for whatever evils the future may have in store for them.

Effect: Creation of a Militant cult.

Annie - Bond scene - Crime lords
Annie was dressed in a pair of loose-fitting black jeans, accompanied with a blue top with white stripes crossing it. She was aware that the world around her would become much different from the one she previously knew. That made her uncomfortable. She decided to visit the casino. Dodging and evading through the people desperate to make a big win, she found herself in an elevator. Going down a couple stories. The elevator is busy servicing others for a while, since nobody but her seems to be going down. Uncomfortable with this, she flips open her mirror to check her looks. Ugh. She combs her black shoulder-length hair with her fingers. She shouldn't be here. This wasn't a place for her.

Soon enough, she's down in the basement. A handful of more-muscle-than-brains kill-you-for-a-penny thugs are counting out their money. Some of them aren't using money, but are using scales and drugs. Fine white powders being divided to be sold. Disgusting. "Man, look y'all, it's Annie. What'chu want with us?" she's asked. Not a frequent visitor, but definitely known here. Known for saving plenty of their lives. Some of them keep counting and dividing, others take a break and look up at her. The atmosphere is heavy with odd smells. Blood. Cocaine. Smoking weed. "I need a gun." she says, trying to be quiet about it. "Annie, ya need someone popped? Just say it. Imma kill 'em!"

"No! Definitely not that. I don't want anyone to die. It's just... it's dangerous out there. It's getting worse. I don't know if I could even use something like this on someone else, but if I have to... you know." She sounds hesitant. It's true. Using a gun on someone else might not be possible for her. "Annie, you's got a good heart. Take this, an' don't let anything bad happen to ya." He hands her his own gun and a few clips - a machine pistol, with a small grip in the front to better your aim. If she couldn't hit her target, the other twenty bullets would. Hopefully. She nods, and after being hugged by the thug she purses her gun, digging it deeper into the bag. Don't want anyone immediately seeing it.

Leaving this casino she shouldn't be in, she heads out.

Annie knows of the hero. It was a good deed. However, this city is plagued by plenty more emergencies. Annie brings together a crew of paramedics, doctors, firemen and other rescue workers to serve as a team to provide an even quicker response to any emergency. The faster they get there, the more lives will be saved and the less grievous the wounds will be.

''Mr. Dollars'' Casino

I dunno know boss. You are friendly with her, but I heard she hangs out with the cops.

Shut ye trap. Next things you says, she’s wearing wire. And the next thing I'll do is break your ugly mug.

Sorry boss, shutting up now.

And what’s up with you Cleo, you’ve been awfully quiet, the last half an hour.

I’m just watching this guy on the monitor. He’s a regular, doesn’t play for high stakes, but always wins. I think I know him. He’s involved in some mystical society. I've dated someone from their inner circle, he was full of ****.

Don't belive in them mystic powers and santa slaus. It's always turns out to be cheating.

St. Mary's Hospital

What is the Roger? Where do you think funds for those extra paramedics coming from? You know this city’s deficit has crossed into a black hole. I’m tired of begging those *******s in the city hall, for funds you just throw away.

But with the current situation in the city, we need more people on the streets. That fire just recently...

It’s her right. That skanky nurse?

Now, listen she...

Are you sleeping with her? Is that why she is running this hospital?

What are you saying! Are you crazy?

As crazy as I was about your little vacation last year?

Would you stop bringing that up...

Mayor's Mannor

I'll be going daddy. There is an old friend I haven't seen in ages.

Be safe pumpkin. The mayor turned to the papers on his desk. They all had red in them. The recent economic crisis all but destroyed real estate market. The city was low on cash and his own finances were even worse. Perhaps it was a good thing, if Nancy's friend was indeed, who he thought he was.

Building Scene (Robert Darkbard)

Callahan arrives to the interview, looking a bit tired and unkempt. He is visibly embarrassed, when he notices a stain on his jacket. Callahan seems impressed by Darkbard’s reputation and genuinely interested in the position in the laboratory, but he seems hesitating to accept and eventually rejects your offer:

I’m grateful for the opportunity you provide Mr. Darkbard and academic environment here is very good. But it is just not right for me. I want some change in my life and staying in this city... Well I just need to move on.

Chen Yi

Bonding Scene +1 FP and First Building Scene (Advantage)

Chen tapped his pen repeatedly on his desk. it was a nervous twitch that would drive anyone around him mad. Luckily he was alone.

Another slow day at work.

Dropping the pen, Chen reached for the mouse and the monitor before him flickered.

Huh, no problems today..

With his inbox empty, he decided to do a bit of websurfing. A few articles caught his eye. (Divining Quests -2 FP) Especially the interview.

Oh...right. Was that even real? He said his name was Masik...man I need to stop watching anime before I go to bed.

Chen let out a sigh.

But what if it was real...?

He navigated his webpage to his blog and started typing.

A Crazy Dream?

So, a few days back I had an interesting...experience. A japanese samurai spoke to me about a great war. He had the whole get up; katana and robes, but his eyes were on fire! He claimed to be from this spirit world...and that he came to this world to help protect us. The more I think about it, the more it sounds like the plot of an anime. But I can't find one that has such a plot! Maybe, my mind is creating all of this. And that would make sense, since this spirit claimed that I would lead the world in this war...

The telltail sound of an e-mail broke his concentration.

Well, let's see what kind of response I get.

Chen hit submit and walked away from his computer to help someone "connect to the internet". Sheesh

A question for the GM:

I want this scene to also be a building scene in which to gather followers...but I am not sure if it would still count as a bonding scene.

Father Moriarty
Bond Scene (Doctor)

The good Father is very busy, his hospital filled with victims of (fortunately minor, in most cases) burns. While he no longer practices medicine himself, he does provide counseling for some of the more shaken victims of the fire. Right now he was talking to one such girl, a Marianne Smith.

"I thought I was going to die. I knew it. But then... this man appeared. I was getting kind of weak from the smoke, so at first I thought... I thought he was an angel, to take me to heaven. And I was calm. But he saved me. Tim Bromberg... my guardian angel."

Building Scene (Destiny Quest II)

Father Moriarty feels as though he is being guided by the divine, a feeling to which he has become accustomed and that he heeds. Believing that others might take the same inspiration from Bromberg's actions as Marianne, he starts calling every news station in town.

"Hello, this is Father Linus Moriarty. Yes, I would like to call in a story..."

Building Scene (Advantage)

A shadow floats through Goatswood, and then into the city. Its movements seem oddly methodical, as though it was searching for something. What it seeks is other daemons and sanctums. By finding these, it hopes to find the other dreamers. Those daemons that it does find, it greets, showing itself as a young winged boy.

"Hello, friend. Father Moriarty greets you. He wishes to arrange a civil meeting between dreamers, that they may establish guidelines to make this quest easier on all involved."

Annie fought trying to get those ambulances out there, but ended up leaving on the count of "due process" - something she'll have to wait and see the next day. Confident. They have the vehicles, it wouldn't be too incredibly expensive to put them out there. It's a dense city. Soon enough, she finds her way home - a less crowded, second-story apartment. Grocery bags can be found in her hands. Stepping inside, she shuts and locks her door, cooking dinner. Well, actually, dinner tonight was cup noodles. No complaints, the little things are tasty. With a couple beeps, she finds her way infront of her computer. Why pay for TV when you can just get streams of exactly what you want online?

Browsing for something interesting to watch turns into boredom. Boredom turns into loneliness. She begins browsing the web, posting things to various friends. Feeling better, her attention turns elsewhere. The seals. The player website. How would she become victorious? Maybe she got the easiest seals of everyone else - but they were still hard. Browsing along brings her to a certain blog... the certain blog of Chen Yi.

This is her chance! All she has to do is troll him and the seal will be broken! So, with chaos in her heart, she begins typing up a post that will rouse endless conflict...

Anime is terrible. It's very inferior to more classic works, which actually have plots and characters with personalities. Having dreams about silly little ninjas in dresses with swords the size of mountains is just...

She stops and can't help but look at her desktop from the window she was posting in. Three episodes of your classic anime romance-fantasy story she downloaded while she was gone. Looking between her troll post and her own desktop... she feels remorse. The blinking text cursor stays there, waiting for her to continue her acidic post about how bad anime was. Within thirty seconds, she finds herself slamming her finger on the backspace button.

Mechadon: The Fall - That series has a plot really similar to it. It's actually fairly good up until episode 15, where they start playing the powerlevel game too badly. You know, like, "I'm a god!" "Well i'm a doublegod!" "Well then I use my secret triplegod technique!" "There's a quadgod in my heritage so i'm even stronger!" etc etc etc... The downfall of one too many animes. Still, if you're looking for something like that, go check it out. Don't get too attached to it, though.

After revising her post for about fourty minutes and having some bad recollection of her attempt to make the post, she moves on to reading the news, eating her noodles and dwelling on how to break the seals.

Father Moriarty's Daemon Search

Your Daemon should be able to locate (1 per scene): Jack "Deja" Forester, Ewan McRorsch, Annie Ranheim.

The rest have either Daemon of equal power or strong Sanctums.
Chen Yi's Daemon can turn the tables and track down Linus Moriarty's Daemon.

Father Moriarty's Daemon Search (Annie Ranheim)

The young nurse's daemon may be weak, but her power is strong enough to send ripples that Seraph senses. The spirit materializes in her apartment, an innocent-looking young boy in a white robe with a pair of angelic wings and a glowing halo, a small and harmless-looking silver sword sheathed at his side. Its gaze seems to flit from Annie to a point just above and behind her shoulder, but he addresses Annie.

"Hello miss, nice to meet you. And your daemon, too."

Its form flickers, as though it has trouble maintaining it.

"I'm Seraph. I'm here on behalf of Father Moriarty. He's trying to get in touch with the other dreamers. You are a dreamer, right?"

Chen Yi

His blog is not exactly the most well formed or strongly followed. Though, because of his status at his father's dojo, he gets a fair amount of martial arts (specifically kung-fu) followers. And he has used this to his advantage including posts about his own interests: music, movies and anime, and computer technology. So far, he has been able to maintain interest rather well but doesn't pay much attention to any particular readers, except some friends and family. He does try to respond to as many comments as he can, since he doesn't get them too often.

Second Building Scene (Seal of Peace)
Having successfully wiggled the loose printer cable back into the machine, Chen once again found himself sitting and waiting in front of his computer.

I might as well check on my blog...huh? I got a comment already!

Yes you did.

Wait. That voice came from behind me. And he was pretty sure he recognized it. Oh God, I fell asleep at the job again. What if I get an e-mail? Chen slapped himself to try and wake himself up.

Ow!

You ar not asleep.

Chen slowly turned to see the spirit standing behind him. Though its gaze was not directed at Chen, he still could not help but stare at the flames the lept from the Masik's eyes. And the scowling didn't help either.

Are you real...you can read my mind?

We can communicate by thought alone. And yes, I am as real as the air you breath.

My purpose here is to inform you that the one that responded to your message is indeed another dreamer-

Another dreamer? So this is a dream? And there are others who can see you?

Not just me, but others as well. Each will have its own goal as you have yours. These goals are dreams and those that have them are the dreamers. You, Chen Li, are a dreamer. And so is Annie Ranheim. Get to know her and you will aid each other greatly.

Chen began to speak, but the spirit disappeared from his sight within a single moment. -but I don't even now who she is or where she lives..

Ok. Just breath and think about this. Maybe I'll just start with a response and lets see where it goes from there.

Mechadon you say...I hadn't heard of that one. I will have to check it out. And thanks for the recommendation! In return I will recommend my favorite anime Angel of Flames. It is quite an intense story line that follows an exhiled angel that must fight her way through angels and demons to get back into heaven. It is a good watch!

Jack "Deja" Forester - Building Scene 2 - Destiny Quest I

Seal Break!
Seal of Kindness: Destiny Preserved

Jack smiled as he looked at his new allies, hopefully these will be enough for what he needs.

With his new found allies Deja sets about ensuring Professor Callahan makes it to Toronto. He arranges for a white hire car to follow the professors movements until he makes it to the airport, with two of his followers (armed if possible) in it. At the airport two other followers will take over the tailing of the good Professor they will be more of a physical threat, and if possible trained in the unarmed arts. They will get on the same plane as him and ensure he makes it to Toronto safely, before returning.

In addition to these two teams, there will be an extra 4 teams, two armed, two unarmed, in place in various area's where they can be used to come in to support or take over as needed.

Should anything go wrong they are to act to preserve the Professors life, and get him to Toronto. Worse case scenario, they take him there via car road trip.

Edit: I stupidly left out how Jack was getting this information and where he was going to be.

Edit 2: Jack rings the professor up and claim to be a fan of his works, having studied at University himself. Jack wished to meet up with the professor at the airport and see him off to his new job. He will use this time to work out what flight the Professor will be on. Jack is to be with one of the floating teams, and will arrive at the airport just ahead of the professor with a few small seeing off gifts.

Edit 3: Disregrade this post.

Fork in mouth, noodles hanging out of her mouth, some odd creature appears in her apartment. She's captivated by the show she's watching, but quickly puts down the fork and grabs her purse, setting it on her lap. Nervous. Unsafe. Her hand reaches into her purse, but... rests there.

"I am. Why? What does he want with me?"

One would even go as far to say that she was frightened. For one of such great "power", she's not reckless or aggressive in the least. "Why does he want all of the players in one place?" After a tiny bit of exposure to this strange being, she pauses what she was watching. Becoming more comfortable. If it was here to harm her, it would have done its job by now.

Eurus
2010-02-22, 04:46 PM
Seraph holds up his hands palm outward, a gesture of harmlessness. "Please, do not misunderstand. Father Moriarty means no harm. He only wants all of the dreamers to confer so that they can establish some ground rules, to reduce collateral damage. He simply would not be able to live with himself if he felt that this game was causing harm to innocent people."

RJ45
2010-02-22, 04:50 PM
She sighs. Seraph would see her anxiety disappear. A smile crosses her face. "I would absolutely attend something like that. I don't want anyone to get hurt, player or otherwise. But... either way, it'll happen. That doesn't mean we can't try our best to prevent as much suffering as possible." Slowly her purse is found on the floor. It seems she wouldn't need that gun. Would the bullets even stop it? "When and where?"

Eurus
2010-02-22, 04:55 PM
Seraph seems slightly embarrassed, and flickers again. "Well, so far you're the first other player that I've found, so I'm not sure. But Moriarty told me that if I found someone, I should exchange his contact information with them. He'll call you when he manages to schedule a meeting with everyone. Oh, and if you find any other players, you should tell him."

RJ45
2010-02-22, 05:05 PM
"If I do, i'll try to tell him. But it might not be possible. There are going to be people out there who will do anything or go to any point to make sure they win." She fiddles around with her desk, trying to find a piece of paper. She tears a piece of paper off of some sort of useless document. Something about a blood drive - but with her as a player in this world, she would need every ounce of strength she has. She writes her phone number down on it, handing it to the strange being.

"But what does he want? I mean, it's good to care about the lives of others, but what's his ultimate goal? Isn't it sort of... irrelevant? People are going to break whatever rules are agreed between all of us anyways, if it means having their dream." She reviews what she said, becoming unpleased at her word choice. "I mean, i'm sure some will!"

Eurus
2010-02-22, 05:15 PM
Seraph sighs sadly. "You're probably right, but we can try anyway. Moriarty believes that even though competition between the players is inevitable, it doesn't have to involve innocents. That's why he wants to set up an agreement; people won't drag civilians into this if they know that the rest of the players will punish them for it. It wouldn't benefit them."

I could never get into Angel of Flames. I heard the ending was either really really good or really really bad, depending on who you liked in the story. It also had a pretty slow startup - but that part I have to blame on myself. I watched the first three episodes which basically introduced the characters, their world and their goals. I hear that after episode 6 it takes off into a really unique adventure. Still, I really just need to find the time to break through those first 6 episodes.

Seraph nods slowly. "Yes, that's possible. But like you said, we still have to try. And if nothing else, at least it'll give us some warning of what we're dealing with."

The spirit concentrates, and a pen starts levitating to jot down a phone number and e-mail address, along with the address of Father Moriarty's church and clinic.

"Well then, let's hope we don't have problems. I'm sure you have other players to find, then." She watches the pen, uncomfortable. Magical abilities. Pens don't levitate. "Sorry," the spirit shrugs. "This 'personal property' thing is a bit new to me. Goodbye for now, anyway."

She sighs. That's right. A dreamer. She isn't just some nurse anymore - she was chosen to chase that silly idea of hers. That idea she's crafted over the course of several years. With that, she browses the internet for a bit, if anything to calm her nerve. Oh. A reply on that blog. That anime had potential - better write back. Damnit! Her noodles are cold now! She's disgusted with them, yet finishes them. Don't waste food.

Soon enough, she begins to write up an email to Moriarty.

Subject: Saw your... angel. Seraph

We have similar beliefs, at least in the fact that whatever happens between players shouldn't hurt innocent people trying to live their lives. I would rather that nobody had to be hurt, but sadly that isn't going to happen. At least, not that I know of. Yet.

My question is, what is your dream? Why are you participating in all of this? I mean, from what you want to do, obviously you're not a bloodthirsty monster out to win at whatever cost necessary, so I'm curious. What do you want?

After hesitating to hit the send button for quite a few minutes, she eventually presses it. All of these people were fighting for their wishes, yet only one could have it. Those wishes would be crushed.

Putting it like that, it's actually fairly sad to think about.

It takes about half an hour for a reply to come -- just long enough for Seraph to tell Moriarty what had happened, prompting him to check his e-mail.

Subject: Re: Saw your... angel. Seraph
I'm glad to "meet" you, Annie. It's good to know that at least some of the other dreamers aren't ready to throw away their morality just yet.

As for my dream, that's a fair question. Every day, I look out at the world and I see tragedy and cruelty, but also hope and faith. Unfortunately, the former pays significantly better than the latter. It feels like the world is on a slippery slope downward, and I want to save it. There is no justice on Earth, it seems, and when there is it is through pure chance.

I want all people, rich and poor, to receive their long-promised rewards. For the virtuous to be blessed, and the wicked to be punished and redeemed. I want a better world, one of universal transcendence and enlightenment. But I am not qualified to make this judgment, nor, I believe, is any mortal on Earth. Can anyone truly judge creation besides the Creator him (or her) self?

Please, don't misunderstand me. I'm not a televangelist, trying to drown the world in hellfire and brimstone. I don't want to see anyone cast down into a fiery anything. I only want to finally bring the promised paradise, to see the darkness that fills the world finally replaced with light. I truly believe that, confronted with true divine love, even the most hardened of sinners will be redeemed. And I cannot bear to watch the world slip farther and farther from paradise any longer.

But are you really prepared for that? I mean, yes, Bercroft Falls isn't the most friendly of cities anymore, but it isn't horrid. I work at a hospital and every day I see miracles done and I perform miracles myself. Is it really time to bring an end to this world?

I mean, I can see why you'd want that to happen. It's a good cause, but I'm afraid I won't understand it until it happens. There are foreign ideas there. How can someone be happy forever? I mean, even rich people who can purchase anything in the world they could desire become depressed if they don't have an active goal. In a world with absolute peace, no conflict, and infinite time to perform anything a person wants to do... won't they grow bored, and even depressed from that?

My dream is that this world will remain exactly how it is. I believe that this is as close to perfect as any world is going to get and shouldn't change. I might be wrong, but I do know one thing. No man should have this power. The world should operate on it's own timetable, and nobody should have a say in when or how it changes.

We all have our dreams. Is it wrong to desire a neutral world?

I understand your point, and I agree with you that no man should have that kind of power, which is why I intend to turn the decision over to a higher power. I understand that there's plenty of good in this world, but there's also so much sadness and pain. I dream of a world where the miracles that people like you work are unnecessary, because there is no injury or death to require them.

Think about it from a different perspective. If a person has the power to do good, are they not obligated to do so? If you choose to keep the world exactly as it is, does that not make you responsible for every drop of blood shed, and every tear spilled that you could have prevented?

The concept of true paradise, I admit, is beyond my ability to fully understand as well. I don't think that it's something that anyone can really understand until they experience it. But I do believe that it is possible. Maybe not in this world, but in the next.

"Death is a necessary part of life, but not all deaths are necessary."

For every tear shed, for every drop of blood on the ground, that person is able to enjoy the peace they earn a hundred times over. Maybe, yes, such things should be prevented. But, once again, it's a part of life. The truth is, everyone is wrong about their dream, for we are all mortal people. To be fair, your dream makes the most sense. To entrust a being of infinite wisdom to lead the world to a new age is far better than anything any of us could conjure.

But, let's not forget what's important. We both agree that the innocent should be protected. Before fate rightfully decides which of us is to have their world saved, we need to discover the purpose of others. Some, I'm certain, have selfish wishes - but the ones I am truly worried of are those that wish for destruction. To plunge this world into a purposeful eternal suffering, either intentional or non-intentional. Something far worse than allowing this world to continue as it is. If we're lucky, nobody wished for such a thing. I guess we simply need to wait until we meet with the others.

Even though by the nature of this contest we are enemies, I'd like to think that we won't go against eachother until we are the last two standing.

Yes, you're right. I would like to believe that nobody would be so foolish or spiteful, but I doubt that is the case. I also hope that we will not be forced into conflict unless we are the last two that remain, and that we may cooperate to stop anyone who is attempting to doom the world to darkness and suffering.

I am still working to find the other five dreamers, so that we can meet and learn more about each other, but it would help if you would do the same. Perhaps while I search for daemons, you could use more mundane methods to try to find the players?

I can only do my best. I'm not the most observant player of them all, but if I do manage to find them, i'll send them to you. I have no Daemon, so-

"You have no Daemon? Who the hell do you think you are?!" Her completely not-useful companion voices his complaints about her letter. "You can't do anything. You're only good for conversation. Do you want me to lie and tell him of all the legendary feats you've accomplished while you were stuck within a few feet of me? Oh. I have a good one. "The legend of Dharesh, who told a really funny joke." - what a wonderful servant."

"I swear to Moriarty's God, when I have a body I'm going to smack you."

Letter continued after interruption by a "faithful" companion
My Daemon isn't developed, so it's up to me to find them. It's not easy, as i'm sure you've already figured out. My hospital work doesn't exactly send me from one side of the world to the other, so it'll be slow.

That's a good question. I don't know what I have. I can't really compare it to anyone else. It's love power. It lets me take care of patients. Maybe I can tell the future. For some reason, the last time I was at the hospital I knew who was going to die. That the support they recieved wouldn't be enough to save their lives. It felt disgusting, but it just kept me there helping them.

I really don't know. Maybe i'll figure out someday soon.

"Love power." Dharesh repeats to her. "Love power." he says again. "Shut up! It has to be something involving what I do at the hospital. What else would it be? I can't really tell the future, can I?" Dharesh is silent for a moment. "What are you going to do, bandage their mouth shut so they can't breathe? Is that the way you're going to win this competition? Through -loving- them to death? You're a pretty terrible succubus. And you accused me of being useless..."

Annie sighs, staring at her monitor. "I swear, when you have a physical form, i'm going to slap you." Dharesh laughs softly. "I'm sure your ability to tell the future will simply shock me so badly i'll drop dead right where I stand." Typing in her favorite search engine's website, she begins a search. "Loud ghosts and how to shut them up."

Nothing really. Aren't you scared? I mean, there's only going to be one person who is victorious. Chances are high that almost all of us will die, including you and me. The best case scenario is that somehow two or three people survive past the end, but even then, who's to say what happens after that?

How is someone supposed to sleep at night knowing that out there somebody wants them dead, just to rise closer to being the victor?

Amantius is squatted down inspecting the stamp on an armchair. The WB marking clearly identifies the piece. It was actually quite valuable dating at least to the 1880's, but the seller didn't know that and Amantius wasn't going to enlighten him."It does seem to be a genuine antique, crafted most likely in the Victorian era," Amantius pauses and pretends to keep on inspecting it, "Although the person who crafted this does not carry any real prestige. What is the price your willing to part with it for?"
The man seemed to hesitate,"I'm not to sure, five or six thousand?" He trails off and looks nervously at it. "I'm not to sure it's something of a family heirloom."
Amantius loved these kinds of situations, grandparent leaves a valuable pieces with a clueless child. "I'll tell you what though, you want six thousand dollars for this piece, I will pay six thousand. It is a good quality piece but a sum of anything higher does not seem reasonable. Out on an common market i doubt you sell it for anymore than four thousand or maybe three. Most people have no idea who William Birch is and there is no evidence that it has any real historical or cultural significance. I'll put the price at seven thousand because it seems to have some sort of significance in your family."
"That seems... About right?" The man seems content with that price, clearly he should have gotten it appraised first.
"So you've made up your mind?"
"Yeah, i guess."
"Great i'll write you up a check now and have someone come take it in a few days."

Seal of Kindness: Destiny Preserved

Jack rings the professor up and claim to be a fan of his works, having studied at University himself. Jack wished to meet up with the professor for a light meal before seeing him off at the airport.

Jack will follow closely to the man, and hire a taxi for the express purpose of following himself and the professor in their taxi. Should something go wrong the plan is to abandon the first taxi and take the second an alternative route to the air port, should that fail, to a rail line heading to Toronto, should that fail a bus route (which Jack will follow part way, in a taxi, to ensure its safety).

Jack spends a Fate point, once in contact with the professor, to power up his Power to activate his spider sense to help protect himself and the good professor.

Dinner was... alright. TV was fun to watch. Servants breaking into her home and asking her to meet someone was... interesting. However, there was more to be done. Turning off her monitor, she snags some clothes from one of her dressers, heading into the bathroom. Work clothes. Tugging off her more casual clothes, she fits herself into that monotone uniform. It's annoying. It's not personal at all.

She turns and looks into the mirror. She combs her black hair a bit while judging herself. When she has more time, she really has to do something with her hair. So plain. Reaching over to the fine array of makeup she has around the sink, she decides to pretty herself. Well, not excessively - it's work, after all. If it were something like a date she'd have to spend at least fourty hours doing all of this to make sure she was the sexiest lady for thousands of miles. However, this isn't a date. All she needs is enough to make her look nice. She claps her hands together once, looking in the mirror and being satisfied with the person looking back at her. Yay!

With that settled, she snags her purse and heads to the door, opening it and heading out. There's people suffering out there, people who need a helping hand that would reach out to save them. Annie would be that hand.

Build Scene - Act on a Quest - Destiny Quest 2
Annie flips open her pocketwatch. The top part of the watch shows a picture of her mother, her father, and a miniature Annie inbetween them. However, she's focused on the bottom part. The part that says that - oh. She thought she might have been late. Turns out she's about 10 minutes early. Still, she rushes there. She wants to be out on those streets as fast as possible.

In due time, the ambulance departs on it's first patrol mission, carrying supplies inside for more than the typical life-threatening situation, but also for other emergencies. Fires. A plastic suit. A mask that would definitely protect your face from the searing flames. There's even a couple unique tools for dealing with drowning situations. This ambulance was designed to deal with any situation that might come up. Annie was captivated by the axe they had. Something about an axe in an ambulance is sort of frightening. "Looks like your arm is destroyed. We're going to have to amputate." - for that very reason, she buried it under everything else. The patients don't need to die from a heart attack.

As they get rolling, Annie begins feeling the town... this feeling makes her uncomfortable. The feeling of disaster. The feeling that something terrible was going to happen.

A sudden tinge tweaks Crawley's mind as an abulance drives by. "Ah...a dreamer appears..." he croons to himself, spinning around to watch it drive away. Second Building Scene (Seal of Peace Continued)
Chen left work that day, unsure. Unsure of what was real and what wasn't. How was he to just ask to meet this Annie?

What if she's dangerous?

No, Masik wouldn't have told me to go see her...

Wait a second! I don't even know who or what Masik is and now I am talking like I now him?! Why is this happening to me? Life was so much easier when reality was reality and anime was anime.

Everyday after work Chen walked home, as he lived in an apartment not too far away. Plus it helped him stay in shape, save money, and clear his mind from the day's work. Unfortunately, his mind did not relax during the walk. By the time he got to his house he could hardly think of anything else but getting back to his blog.

Well, she responded, but I don't really have anything to say in response. I wonder if she nows that I am a dreamer...

Only one a way to find out.

A new blog post

Reality

Sorry for those of you who enjoy my less existential posts, but lately something has been bothering me. I just have this utter confusion as to what is real and what isn't. Things have been happening that seem to make no sense and I gett he feeling that I am not alone in this. My inner child wants to believe that this is real, if only for the excitement. But the adult in me cannot help but be concerned. In one hand I am just imagining all this and I am going crazy. This is obviously a problem in its own right. But on the other hand, this is real. Then at what cost? I actually like my life I can't say it is the most perfect, but it isn't so difficult that I would wish to risk this one for another.

Maybe the greatest fear is in not knowing. In kung-fu we are taught to anticipate the opponent's moves. But how can I anticipate anything at this point? The whole "You are the one to save the world" thing is a curveball that none could see coming...unless you are Besaraki :-P

Besaraki is a popular character from a very mainstream anime called Super Agent 0. He is much like superman, except he has no alter ego. He is employed to protect the Earth during its most trying times. So, in a sense, his day job is "save the world from destruction".

On a more personal note, Chen does not care much for the series as he finds it predictable and boring.

It's easy enough to not worry about things that aren't real. The problem is that things that I think should be fake feel real. Do you have any idea what I am talking about?

Not a Scene -- Seal Break (Seal of Kindness: Charity)

When Annie next goes to enter her apartment, Seraph suddenly coalesces next to the door with a cheery wave. "Hello again. The Father wanted me to give you this. He said it's just a gift, and he hopes that the two of you will remain on good terms."

The spirit glances around as though to make sure nobody is eavesdropping before it leans in and continues in a whisper. "Plus if you accept it, it'll break one of the seals, and that's good for all of us."

The spirit hands over a small wooden cross, no more than an inch or so in size, and vanishes with a wink. The cross, of course, is just the packaging; the real "gift" is the small measure of the man's own destiny bound up within.

Of course I know what you're talking about. I felt that way for a short while as well.

Then I realized it was all real. There's no such thing as "fake"

Simple. You have a fascination with anime and foreign arts. So do I. I watch anime almost all the time when I'm not working. I'm simply very picky about what I watch. So I decided I'd tell you about a plot of an anime that described your dream.

Destiny Quest 2

Jack goes into the casino again, this time with a mission in mind. He begins to gamble heavily, not for too long at any one game, but moving from game to game, using his powers to ensure he wins almost all of the time. Once he has amassed a small fortune he hurriedly leaves the casino, hoping to out pass any who wish to question his ill gotten goods.

He makes his way to the local ambulance base for Annie's new service, here he donates half of the vasts sums of money, that he collected from his gambling. He then proceeds to use his powers to guess at where the money is needed most for helping the people, and donates the rest. He does all of this anonymously hoping to inspire others to such acts, while helping others himself.

Annie starts up the stairs to her apartment, feeling a bit tired after the events of the day. However, her daemon had picked up on quite a few things in the city. Sanctums. Others. A grocery bag is in hand. Just as she fiddles with a keychain for a few minutes, a strange figure appears before her. This time she's not so scared, but that's a bad habit to pick up. Someday one of those daemons is going to want to kill her rather than discuss with her.

"A gift? For me? That's so sweet!" A bright smile lights up on her face. Going home and getting a present from her acquaintances is a wonderful thing, especially if this Father Moriarty isn't an incredibly old man. I mean, this present is a sign that he cares about her, right? It's a good thing!

Just as she feeds herself a bunch of happy thoughts, Seraph tells her about the seal. Blinking a few times, she reanalyzes everything. He gave her this, not out of caring, but because it breaks a seal. Yep. In that very moment, Annie died instantly from the gaping wound in her heart inflicted by this... this "present". By the time she wants to give it back, Seraph is gone. Opening her door, she walks inside her apartment, stashing the goods in her grocery bag and moving to her couch, to sit down and stare at the item she was given, if you could even constitute it as a gift.

A wooden cross. Just what she always wanted. It's -so- much better than, say, chocolates. "Pfff." Seated on the couch, she flops over and lays on that couch, thinking. Not like she could give it back. "You know what, I'm just going to go watch something." she talks to herself when she's alone. It helps kill the silence. She decides to go to her computer and watch the news. Maybe something interesting is happening in the town.

Destiny Quest 2 - Ambulance

They come to a stop at the scene, as Annie runs from the ambulance over to to mangled car. It wasn't a simple wreck. It seems like his body got crushed, slammed, sliced, torn, and... as Annie quickly and carefully works about tugging him out, she realized just how grievous the wounds are. Unconscious, but more than that, he's missing gallons of blood. Everyone knows this young man was going to die. It's impossible. He won't survive for another five minutes - you can see his organs from the wounds.

As everyone turns around and simply makes a note of the situation without taking action, only one remained behind. She stares down at him, trying to make sense of this. She had seen this very situation time and time again, and every single time she could do nothing. Their lives were robbed from them. "This man... died before he had the chance to live." she says aloud. To herself. Something about her thinking of this, staring down at this body, just... "it's wrong." The rain falls down on the road, on her, and on the body. The more she thought about it, the more something inside of her stirred. Anger. Sadness. Uselessness. All of these feelings tormented her as she looked down upon the broken body.

FP -1, POW+2

"Annie... what are you...?!" The only voice she can hear - the only voice she is conscious can feel the atmosphere. Her powerful aura began to focus, as it pulled into her. All of her energy pulls forward as she stares at the body. With such incredible torrents of energy wafting in the air between them, she brings one hand upon the body of this young man - and with it, the energy explodes into a bright light that even she can see. The light fades... and somehow, she knows deep within her heart that this man is going to survive! She wastes no time gently carrying the body into the back, all by herself. "Go! I don't care if he's going to die - we have to try our best!" The lights of the ambulance flash red and blue, tearing through the streets on their mission back to the hospital. They had faith in her, who had faith in herself.

Maintaining balance in the vehicle, Annie does everything in her power to save him, using every technique she knew, and even ones she didn't quite yet grasp - that power. That field of energy that was with her even now, blessing the man and gripping him into the land of the living while he should be dead. "Live! Live!" She whines. That life was tethered to this world by her powers, and she kept praying that he would be alright. She prayed to herself. Please - if fate has chosen me to bless these lands, then surely I can bless a single man and save him!

Players? They think this is some kind of game? What is wrong with these people?!

I guess I should go...I'm guessing that's what Masik wanted.

Assume Chen show up when it starts.

In no time Crawley had arrived at the scene of the car crash, blending in to the crowd. Oh, what a nasty accident... he mused to himself, embracing the misery of the situation. He watched amused as Annie rushed to the crash in a desperate salvation attempt. Figures...

(OOC: Ewan McRorsch would like to break his Seal of Power to up his power by two ranks and drive Professor Callahan insane, preventing him for leaving for toronto and forcing him to stay in his ward. If I'm doing this wrong, please inform me, the rules confused me a bit.)

"He mussssstttt not leavvveeee" the Whisperer intoned within Ewan's ear. He cannot be allowed to leavvvveeee.

"Yes, I see..." Ewan muttered to himself. Suddenly everything was clear. Everything had to continue with the flow of progress. His flow drove towards the glory of Sacthu'Yor. Callahan's flow would be instrumental in defeating the great god and reversing the flow.

With this revalation, Ewan's mind felt expanded. He could feel everyone's thoughts as a tangible aura. His own aura, was naturally larger and stronger. It could push and prod, and diminish the strength of their aura. His new comprehension led to another revelation: he could twist and break minds with his thoughts. A jab with his aura here, a poke with it there, and he could turn anyone into a gibbering wreck. Turning his thoughts outward, his aura searched for Callahan. Soon, he found him upon the campus and begun the process of dismantling the professors sanity all for the glory of Sacthu'Yor. It would not be long before he was considered mentally unfit.

'Deja'

Jumping on his computer Deja looks up the Web of Fate website and begins to dig around for information regarding seals and players.

Finding this post;

"I agree with Linus Moriarty, a meeting between dreamers would be beneficial for all of us and help establish the rules. If necessary I can host the meeting for us, in fact I insist upon it."

Deja leans back and considers his next move. After much consideration and some guess work he responds.

"Hello, I'm also a player. I would like to attend this meeting, but I'm not sure if it would be a good idea for any one person to "host" such a meeting, perhaps a public place would be a better idea."

Annie reads along the posts. Well, there's only one simple conclusion.

We should go to the mall. The food and candy they have there is really good. It'll be a nice place to meet others.

"Of course the meeting should be held in no ones own personal sanctum but it cannot be held in a public place. I can rent out a hotel conference room or something of that nature for our buisness."

"Why can it not be held in a public place? Your reasons please?"

"Yes, I agree. A public place would be too risky, especially if conflict does break out. I hope it won't, of course, but you can never be too careful."

"Alright, if you want to break the seal yourself so badly be my guest. Makes things easier for me, since that leaves you responsible for keeping it from turning into a brawl."

"Not only does it seem that people are planning a battle for this encounter, why else not have the meeting in public, but it appears there is a seal riding on this matter... I challenge you dreamers to examine your reasons and wants for such a meeting, and question, what do the other dreamers want out of it."

"Don't we all want the seals broken? Why should it matter who does it? And I assure you, I want to avoid conflict; I just can't guarantee that everyone else is of the same mindset. That being the case, I think it's safer for all involved to meet privately. Less chance of being overheard, too."
