I realize Cthulu is not a true race in D&D, but what if someone created him as a PC?

Can some1 make a build for this?

While the D20 Cthulhu game has D&D-compatible stats for Cthulhu himself, it doesn't have stats for the Star Spawn of Cthulhu, which are suggested to be lesser members of his race.

You could try creating your own "Cthulhu-species" rules using him as a basis, and removing all the divine abilities, and "un-advancing" him by a lot of Hit Dice.

Or you could make your own.

Might be a bit difficult to do a PC version though- too many hit dice, great size, probably a high Level Adjustment.

The Pseudonatural template in Complete Arcane might be an interesting place to start.

Mind flayer. Or half-illithid. That's about as close as you can get...

Pseudonatural Mindflayer Thrallherd.

I had thought a Half-Green Dragon Half-Illithid Sorcerer with the Illithid and Dragon heritage could be close

Not enough Pseudonatural.

Not enough Pseudonatural.

But with the picture (see Wikipedia), he looks like a 900+ft tall Half-Green Dragon Half-Illithid who deals unearthly damage

I still say you should throw the Pseuadonatural template on their.

Pseudonatural (both the template in Comp. Arc and the template in the ELH) is just required.

And yes, it needs both templates.

Yes, but it's Cthulu... the LA alone should be enough to destroy mortal minds.

the Racial combination of Pseudonatural Half-Illithid Half-Dragon of my choice is an 8LA combo. Considering it gets literally NO racial HD, thats 8 monster levels..........At d12 HD and an Outsider (Extraplanar, Dragon) with using the Illithid Heritage feat tree and the Abberant Blood feat tree with Starspawn as the capstone......

Excellent......

...Except you don't get any HD out of LA. Ever. At ECL nine you'd have one HD, and that would be a class level.

There is no monster class level. You'd have 8 non-levels for the purpose of XP and leveling. You get no HD, BAB, Save progressions, nada. You'd be level one at ECL 9.

hold on, the Half-Dragon Race has a few HD (to my bad memory)

Plus, my DM said that IF I made little cthulu, he'd make the LA my monster Lvs for the sake of playability

No, Half-dragon is just a fat LA +3. It does INCREASE your HD size, but that's only if you have RHD in the first place.

Also, that would be important to mention. I just thought you were nuts, but if your DM told you that, yeah, you'd have eight monster HD.

LichPrinceAlim
2010-02-25, 02:55 PM
Now that I think about it, just being a Ulitharid is a more feasible way of playing a Cthulhu-esq PC....

And I take Thrallherd and the Abberant Blood feats with Starspawn as the apex

so in THIS case, I'd spread the HD (whatever they happen to be) over 8 levels and call it Starspawn of Cthulhu for the actual race?

Yeah, more or less. Probably just starspawn, though. Oh, and you still need a base creature for all of this. You've got three templates and no base.

There's a Half-Dragon race with the same bonuses as the template (much like how half-Orc and Half-elf don't specify)

Half-illithid kobolds? Taking Dragonblooded feat at 1st level and the Dragon Wings feat tree- specializing in Green Dragon?

Small, scaly, green, winged (eventually) tentacled.

I will call him- "Mini-thulhu"

(As it happens, all the Great Old Ones in D20 Cthulhu have D12s for Hit Dice- like dragons.)

Dragonwrought only becomes cheesy with either early epic feats, or Loredrake from Dragons of Eberron.

Absent that (maybe by ruling that regardless of RAW, a Dragonwrought Kobold is not a true dragon, and an Old Dragonwrought kobold is not "a dragon of at least old age, that can therefore take epic feats") and its well within normal power level.

Totally unrelated but I do believe Cthulhu was statted up in the 1st edition Fiend Folio. Or maybe it was Deities and Demigods. One of those.
