There is also a pseuso Beholder class in Complete Beholder book (basically an eyekin or human can become almost a beholder: the eye abilities).

Beholder Cultist, from the Complete Guide to Beholders. It grows eyestalks as it levels, and gets 'eye points' that it can spend to fire eyebeams similiar to psionic power points, but not enough to really make it powerful. A mediocre class in an otherwise awesome book.

Savage Species. Be prepared for cheese.There is no savage progression. I think you mean Lords of Madness for the Beholder Mage.

And yes, its awesome.

It was given an ECL of 24 in an issue of dragon. So any monster class for it would stretch well into epic.
