I've been hired to write an article on certain genre webcomics and I'd like to include a profile of Order of the Stick but I'm not having much luck contacting Mr. Burlew.

I've tried the contact form here at the site and I've tried sending a private message to both his account and the account for one of the moderators here on the site.

So far with no luck.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Thanks. :smallwink:

I think you've exhausted the reasonable methods of contacting him, if he doesn't respond, then just write it off.

Anything more seems to diverge into stalker territory, or at least crosses the line of expected levels of privacy.

In general, one writes to authors care of their publishers (you know, snail mail letters). You might try that. The publisher is often the better contact for press/marketing stuff - you might get an official biography or the like even if you can't reach Rich personally.

I'm pretty sure the deepest darkest nightmares, the most horrific things that keep Rich Burlew at night, is the very thought of having his contact information open the the very masses of these forums.

Isn't Rich effectively his own publisher? Or are you talking about his non-webcomic-based stuff?

........."Paparazzi".

And yes, it's bound to happen. It is, after all, a new Media that's gaining popularity. Somewhat.

I'm not sure it'll go very far paparazzi-wise, though. Regular book authors don't get that much attention, do they? It's mostly reserved for actors and models....

i donno, pics of the harry potter lady doing **** would probably garner a *lot* of attention. I just suppose it depends on the author and the situation

Like Chuck Palanick (author of fight club and several other gruesome books) getting caught murdering an escort would probably be brushed over in a day

It ain't like all 41,000 of us are going to show up on his doorstep... except maybe to demand the next comic, like yesterday ;)

That's part of why Rich would be crazy to give out his contact info to us.

Maybe not, but even one or two fans with no concept of boundaries is still a frightening and unwelcome situation. And it's happened with many webcomic writers before. This is the internet, people tend to assume a level of familiarity that isn't there.

Didn't Roland lock a thread like this one just yesterday?

Sheriff of Moddingham: @^ Indeed. There is no special contact method known to forumites. Private Messages, letter to the publisher, contract through the forum. Once sent, about all a person can do is await a response.
