After several years, I've just finished Age of Fable (http://www.ageoffable.net).

Please let me know what you think of it, through this thread or via the guestbook on the site.

If you haven't heard of Age of Fable before, it's a browser game which works like a gamebook. It's been described as "like a mad lottery of illustrated fairy tales".

The last thing I did was 'sort out' the Colossus, then I quit. A great time sink, I really got into it

Damn, I was thrown by some crazy things into a demon pit and died. So much for 20 Luck.

And now Amazons killed me for pretending to be a doctor.

I've rolled a few random characters, and all their names contained "Few-Clothes". :smallconfused:

"The troll tells you it's free, but you have to log in"
"Tell the troll you want to log in"
"The troll hits you with his log"

great news, jolly steve! I've been following this game since the first time you posted it here. I'll give it a try when I got the time.

Anyway, what do you mean by 'finished'? No more new stories? Or you've patched all of the dead end? will you still be updating it?

Thanks everyone!

I'm intending to keep updating it, but probably less frequently. For the next little while my main project is going to be putting out a worldbook/campaign guide for a city similar to the one in the game.

PS Can people use spoiler tags for actual quotes please?

I hit random character. It gave me a talking cat. With an axe. This pleases me greatly. :smalltongue:

Huh, my lizardfolk found a land of peace and turned home. You'd think he'd be able to adventure more after returning home but still. Good game, I enjoyed it.

It seems I can't keep my character from dying a horrible death. :smallfrown:

(Wait, one time he didn't die. He gambled with his soul)

I've died every time so far.

I had a bizarre encounter with an under-armoured elf at one point, and another time I started as a pirate and then got turned into a fortune teller. And fought a 'manual monster'.

It's quite fun, in any event.

Piteous Mew is awesome.

I also had an assasin kill some weird god of smoke.

I died from a shoulder wound today. I wonder how I got this. ;f

Yeah, those damn shoulder wounds!

I keep dying. But still, it's entertaining. And I love all the little jokes and puns.

I just managed to end up retiring with a heroism score of 1, after a ridiculous number of adventures.

I've died of a shoulder wound at least once - those things are pretty annoying.

So far, this has been awesome.

If I make the scouting roll to avoid falling down the slave pit, the game seems to choke and die, leaving me looking at the words, "Scouting roll," or, "Scouting roll: Made it," or, "Scouting roll: ADVANCED."

Thanks for letting me know. I've fixed it now.

I've made about four adventurers so far. My favorite encounter so far has been with the unicorn, though I suspect it might not have been a real unicorn.

Awesome dude! I played this in an earlier incarnation like two years ago! Great fun then, and can't wait to try it now!
