Hey folks! I'm playing a 6th level drow Wu Jen and I need some suggestions for prestige classes.

As for the build, he's got Weapon Focus (ranged spells), Point Blank Shot, Energy Substitution (Acid), and Empower Spell as his bonus metamagic feat (although I've been thinking of swapping for Extend instead). Elemental Mastery is Earth, and I've got my first spell secret as Extend Spell on Hold Person (again, not sure if I like that particular choice)

Been thinking of rebuilding him as more of a summoner rather than a blaster. lol, I'm indecisive. Any suggestions for prestige classes would be great, thanks!

If you want to specialise in ranged touch spells, I'd suggest replacing one level of Wu Jen with a level of Spellthief, then use Unseen Seer to continue advancing sneak attack and spellcasting at the same time.

If you do go with this idea, you could also consider using my preferred drow variant - the Lesser Drow w/Shadow Creature template. Same level adjustment, but gives you total concealment outside of full sunlight instead of spell resistance. It would make sneak attacking a lot easier.

Wu Jen get Spirit Binding. It can be easily as broken as Planar Binding, but fits your idea of playing a summoner. If you hold back and don't summon the most ridiculous spirits, you should be fine.

(It's not in Complete Arcane itself, but the errata for CA explains that you can bind incorporeal undead, fey, and spirits with this spell.)

Broken example:
Spirits in Oriental Adventures that get Shapechange, bindable at level 9
Powerful example:
Spirit of the Land (?) in MM2 with lots of abilities, bindable at level 17

Lots of fey creatures:
in the fey feature articles (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/arch/fey). Didn't look at all of them, so I don't know what useful stuff is in there.

Unapproachable East's Rashemi Elemental Summoning is a very powerful feat that should be a flavorful match to a Wu Jen summoner.

If Malconvoker (CS) fits fluff-wise, I highly recommend it. If it doesn't, try adapting it to center around Spirit Binding and summoning (and see if you can substitute some Spirits into your Summon Monster list).

Also, with Spirit Binding, you will want to see MM2's Elemental Weird. Whether you want to risk binding one or not is up to you, but 18th level sorcerers from 6th level spellslots is something to consider.

I would highly recommend retraining those +1 to hit feats. Augment Summoning is a much more useful feat, especially if you do change your focus.

Thanks a lot! I'd forgotten about the Malconvoker, and it fits really well fluff-wise. A reformed drow who fights evil with evil creatures works very well. Also agree with retraining the +1 to hit feats. Went with Augment Summoning (and Spell Focus (conj) of course), along with Rapid Spell, and Metamagic School Focus. Time to summon my infernal legions, hehehe
