Hey, I'm helping someone build a character for an upcoming session. For various reasons, we need to find a small size category race that doesn't have a strength penalty or a level adjustment. Any suggestions?

Edit: It would also help if they didn't have any other crippling flaws, I suppose.

The Forestkith Goblin from MM3 and the Snow Goblin from Frostburn are the only ones I could find that meet all your requirements. The Poison dusk lizardfolk from MM3 is Small with no strength penalty, but is a LA +1.

EDIT: Actually I was wrong, both of those Goblin races also have LA +1, somehow I missed that.

Well, amusingly enough, the class he's aiming for is War Hulk (The one that requires you to be large size to even enter). But we're looking at applying both the Half-Minotaur and Half-Ogre templates from Dragon 313. Each one increases by 1 size category IF the original creature is small or medium. But taking a small-sized race into War hulk is just awesome, and the size change Str and Con bonuses definitely make up for not having a racial Str bonus.

Also, thanks for the suggestions Greenish, I'm taking a serious look at the Vril, and my are they terrifying looking creatures. A large-sized one would just be awesome.

Also, thanks for the race list, I'd looked for that but couldn't find it.

Well, it's the standard answer with a slight modification: "A wizard dragon sorcerer did it."

Yep, that was kinda the idea. Add in an 18 starting strength, +20 from war hulk, and magic items and he should have a strength of around 80ish by 20. He figures there isn't a whole lot that a +30 strength mod can't solve.

Edit: whoops, sorry for the double post.

With that much strength, you could get a lot of mileage out of bullrush effects.

Oh yeah, Shock Trooper is a definite for this build.

Well...I did point out that he figured that there wasn't a whole lot it couldn't solve. I didn't say he was right. :smallsigh:

Edit: It does look like he's going with the Vril. The adaptable DR and 7d6 shriek cone/burst definitely won him over. The only problem? Stupidest, Ugliest, Clumsiest character ever. But damn can he hit things. (And with a combo of War Hulk and Hulking Hurler, damn can he hit things far away too. Flying wizards will not be less of a problem.

Edit2: We're also considering adding Feral to the mix. Does anyone know if there's a 3.5 update to that template? Or is the 3.25 Savage Species version still official?

I have to say that this guy is one of the most interesting PC's I've ever had the pleasure to meet in character. He was as amazing in appearance as was his introduction.

I watched the man walk up to a Pit Fiend and take a Meteor Swarm to the face. He barely blinked. It was hilarious and wonderful.

I still say that he should have grappled the thing. Especially since, by that point, I had used Energy Conversion on him. Oh, the what ifs. :smallwink:

1/2 Vampire Incarnate Construct Warforged Scout? :smalltongue::smallyuk:

One might as well forgo the Construct part of that build as the Vampire's Undead qualities would give it most the same characteristics.

Though, honestly, the idea of a Warforged Vampire makes my brain hurt. Though I think more things should have the Vampire template.
