I've only seen it mentioned, and have no idea what it actually is (beyond what I can guess from the name), but Murder of Crows is a valid "base animal" for the template.

I am inventing the WERE-werewolf. it turns into a werewolf like normal, but only once in a blue moon does turn into a doubly powerful super-power!

The Dire critters have by far the best stats for their HD, so they will have the best stats for their ECL when used with the lycanthrope template.

Were-shark. World of Darkness has some nifty ideas.

Edit: were-dire maggot, via the creature from Libris Mortis. Well, if the template can be applied using a vermin, but I guess it's probably Animal subtype only.

The thing about lycanthropes is that the animal is really rather tangential apart from it's HD and stats unless you like being a Kung-Fu animal.

The Hybrid Form will generally be where it's at in combat.

Were-Badgers are pretty cool.

But what I really like is Were-Leopard-Seal!

These are not your sea world cuties, but predators that grow over 3m long and to a weight of up to 600 kg. It's like a polar bear that can attack you by jumping out of holes in the ice. Yes, a were-seal would be kind of stupid, but once you have your PCs attacked by a Half-Ogre-Were-Leopard-Seal, no one will be laughing!

Can Warforged become Lycanthropes? If so then these few would look awesome:

Warforged Were-Ape
Warforged Were-Cheetah
Warforged Were-Rhino
Warforged Were-Dire Rat
Warforged Were-Raptor
Warforged Were-Tyrannosaurus Rex
Warforged Were-Monstrous Ant
Warforged Were-Monstrous Wasp
Warforged Were-Monstrous Spider
Warforged Were-Monstrous Scorpion

In fact I've suddenly got an idea, two groups of opposing warforged fighting each other in a massive war in which they fight as beasts......I shall call it......War Beasts!
Well that was a long set up for an incredibly terrible joke.

They don't. They just lose Warforged feats and components, but gain Unarmoured Body and bonus feats in exchange for Warforged feats. So, no. Still no Warforged Lycanthropes.

This is too good a mental image not to share: a man made of crows. The crows actually grab onto each other in such a manner as to make a humanoid form.

Question: does the hybrid form have swarm traits?

You could get a warforged lycanthrope, it's just not gonna be all that warforged-ish in the end. A simple application of the incarnate construct template gets you the humanoid type, and nocks off 2 points of that pesky LA. It wouldn't really be much distinguishable from a human lycanthrope though.
