I think we should make a list of characters whose alignments are obvious and make good examples for characters of the same alignment to follow.

lawful evil- frollo
neutral evil- the comedian
chaotic evil- Joker

Or would be, if that first poster was any good at all.

The quote for Snake makes no sense for the neutral good alignment at all, and half the other characters are obscure enough that they hardly qualify as exemplars.

The Batman motivational is always excellent, though.

V as an exemplar for Good is also pretty iffy. At least in the graphic novel.

Machiavelli as neutral is dumb. If we base his alignment on his writings he would be lawful evil.

I don't really think vader is all that lawful. The empire is a great example of a lawful organization run by non lawful people.

Lawful Good: Florence Ambrose, Freefall (http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff100/fv00001.htm)
Neutral Good: Chou Yaru, Unicorn Jelly (http://unicornjelly.com/)
So Lawful there isn't even room for Neutral: Two the Golem Girl, Tales of MU (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/TalesOfMU)
Neutral: Rorschach, Watchmen*
Chaotic Neutral: Ferris Bueller, Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Also Chaotic Neutral: Peer, Permutation City
Chaotic Evil: Black Mage, 8-Bit Theatre (http://www.nuklearpower.com/2001/03/02/episode-001-were-going-where/)

*One could argue for Rorschach being any alignment, and people do. But that's just the upshot of being a complex Neutral character. :smallwink:

I'm continually amazed that there are people out there that don't consider Rorschach as lawful. I mean, the entire point of his character is that he's ruled by a completely unflinching set of rules.

I also don't think that V is an exemplar of good - but the movie did water down the moral ambiguity significantly.

The Chaotic Evil one is a little misleading- in the actual comic he's trying to save the guy from consuming a madness-inducing drug cooked up by Two-Face.

It also turns out, when he gets a closer look, that the guy is Two-Face. Still, its not really exemplary of Chaotic Evil behaviour by Batman.

The vampire Batman collection, especially toward the end, might fit better.
