Sadly does not exist, and so I am left with a choice.

Spring break is coming up, which means it's time for me to pick up a new game, and I'm stuck between Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2. I loved both of the origional games, and have heard great things about both the sequels.

So, Playground, I ask you, which game should I get?

I would suggest Mass effect 2 because it will probably be a better game because the decisions from Mass Effect 1 are seen in 2...Plus i rented Bioshock and found it to be not as good as the first.

The Zero Puncuation reviews, in case you haven't seen them;

Mass Effect 2 (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/1461-Mass-Effect-2) Bioshock 2 (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/1494-BioShock-2)

My opinion? Bioshock 2. Not quite as good as the first, true, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly enough.

I would suggest Mass Effect 2. Both are good games (or even excellent) but you'll most likely get more use out of Mass Effect 2.

I haven't played either, well, either but from all I've seen?

ME 2. Less DRM, at minimum, better characters, good humor, good gunplay, way stronger RPG elements, all that.

Bioshock 2. Mass Effect is an excellent game, but it is ultimately expendable compared to the experience that is Bioshock 2.

Oh?

From what I've read, that doesn't appear to be the case. Care to explain further?

Is there an alien singing Pirates of Penzance in that too?

Mass Effect 2 by a mile.

Mass Effect 2 gets you more bang for your buck, what with having multiple classes and stories and all that. Plus, if you do all the content, Mass effect is longer than Bioshock 2

40 hours+ for ME2 v. ~15 hours for Bioshock 2. Although if you want to play online head-to-head, go with Bioshock 2.

Heres the thing, I only have a week for spring break, during which time I will actually be somewhat busy, so I'm not sure I want a game that will last a massive amount of time.

Mass Effect 2, definitely.

No, but it has a drill which you can use to drill people after using your abilities to set people on fire and then toss their burning corpses at other enemies.

What else do you want?

((Also, it's definitely darker and scarier than ME2, which helped.))

Though I would suggest getting both. Just that if it came to that, I would pick Bioshock 2.

I'm going to get one game now, and probably pick the other up to play over the summer.

I would probably rent Bioshock 2. If your going to buy either game go for ME2.

One is a single occurrence over the entire game. The other is what the entire game is based on.

Though Mass Effect 2 also has Claudia Black and Simon Templeman voicing quarian admirals. And Jennifer Hale voicing your entire character. That's kinda cool, too.

Mass Effect 2. It's much more fun and engaging than any mediocre FPS can hope to be.

My take: Mass Effect 2. Both are awesome games, but Mass Effect 2's continuity and the whole realization of the space opera wins out.

Mass Effect 2, of course

That way, your DLCs won't expire.

You forgot Martin Sheen as the Illusive Man

I didn't know he was voiced by Martin Sheen. That is kinda cool, too.

But despite all the awesome voice actors Mass Effect 2 has, it simply lacks a drill. And the ability to shoot bees from your hand. And those adorable Little Sisters.

OK, maybe I'm a bit biased, since the drill is one of the coolest weapons I've ever used in a game. Even Gurren Lagann had one.

It sounds like the vote is for Mass Effect, But I'm still leaning Bioshock, simply because I only have a week for Spring Break, and Mass Effect sounds like the perfect game for me to play over the summer.

Well, you only need 6 playthroughs through Bioshock to discover pretty much every ending (though it may take more or fewer to find all the radio messages in the game), which can be done in a week (if you sleep less, eat less, urinate less and so on). Though it does not really change as much as Mass Effect 2, which is why two or three playthroughs should be enough.

Mass Effect 2 takes much longer to immerse yourself in, but I still don't think it should take your entire summer. Unless you want to discover every possible permutation with Mass Effect imported saves, in which case you're looking at a year easy.

Buy Mass Effect 2, endless hours of fiddling and gameplay and a better story.

Rent Bioshock, still good but in my opinion has way less replay value. And on a whole is less interesting.

I don't own an Xbox, I'll be getting these games off Steam.

I'd say Bioshock is the better 'quick fix'. And it has drills, as mentioned.

Definetly get both in the long run, though.

Bioshock is better if you don't have very long. Why? Mass effect takes a while to immerse you, and then it gets better. Bioshock immediatley immerses you for a while, and then gets worse. For short periods of time, Bioshock is better. For long term, go with Mass Effect.
