So, the next game in the Trauma Center series has apparently been announced: Trauma Team, set to be released May 18.

Trailer. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH3xoPpoZOQ)

It looks like it's going to expand the gameplay into more fields of medicine:
Surgery (duh) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NamSBZYwNM&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=27AE2075E3344332)
Endoscopy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-238ib5Tmdw&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=27AE2075E3344332)
Orthopedics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4mkB4oPgGA&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=27AE2075E3344332)
Forensics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMd0y74flTU&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=27AE2075E3344332)
First Response (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkuKBPh--Hc&feature=SeriesPlayList&p=27AE2075E3344332)
and Diagnosis.

Well, I can say that I'm eagerly looking forward to what seems like the first big break from the formula in the series. No more GUILT/Stigma thingies to shoot with lasers, it would seem. Endoscopy looks like a fascinating 3-D take on the series, and the logic puzzler in me is dying to try out the forensics and diagnosis scenarios. Surgery will hopefully be as classic as always, and first response has the potential for some hectic fun.

I played the HELL out of the first one, but I haven't really played any since then.

Hopefully it'll structure the game more like Trauma Center 1.5 did, with different paths to choose.

That way, when I want to play forensics, I can do that, but if I just want to do fast and furious Trauma Work, I can do that too.

But...Endoscopy? Really? I suppose it could be interesting if we're dealing with stomach cancer or something, but it was kinda like:

1. SURGERY! YEAH! EXCITING!
2. Oh, okay, cool Diagnosis. A little bit of puzzle, that's fun.
3. Orthopedics. Alright, not as fun as Surgery, but important I suppose. I never forgave Atlus for that stupid broken arm bit in 1.5. Too much like a Jigsaw puzzle. Maybe it'll be better this time.
4. Woo! First Response! Awesome! Although this probably means using that lame CPR/AED tool that I could never do right. Ah well, still awesome! Plus, the HUD there makes me think that it's Triage, with multiple patients. Which is hectic but awesome.
5. Oh, okay, forensics. A combination of Diagnosis and Ortho it looks like, but less pressure. Well that's fun.
6. Endoscopy? Oh...okay. I guess maybe somebody has...a...stomach ulcer? Or like...cancer maybe?

See, cause that was the one thing that I really liked about the first one, that sense of immediacy. The fact of the matter is that many of the wounds that you had to patch up in the first game were fairly mundane after some practice. The Pancreatic Cancer was fun, one time. The Thrombosis was fun, one time. The throat polyps were fun, one time.

The fun parts were the WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?! BLOOD EVERYWHERE! HOW IS THAT PIECE OF GLASS IN HIS HEART LIKE THAT?!

AHHHHHHH

And then to make it interesting, the GUILT added pressure and forced you to hone your techniques.

So, is the Healing Touch out as well?

Yeah, I'm guessing there's no Healing Touch or Dr. Stiles here.

I'm really fond of the frantic surgeries of the earlier games, too, it's just that after incising and antibiotic gel-ing my way through four games' worth of that, I'm excited at the chance to try something new. Then I can go back to the aneurysms that I failed oh-so-many times if I need that urgent feeling. :smalltongue:
