This thread is for a game of chess. Moves will be posted in algebraic chess notation above, hopefully once per day. Each team's current captain will post the moves for their team. Rules are standard chess rules. Also, since this is a form of correspondence chess, use of books, databases, ect. for reference are allowed, but computers are not. In other words, if the media you are using tells you what the best move is without any analysis or decision on your part, it is not allowed. Teams are split as follows by last vowel of your screen name.

I O and U - Team White (ex. Kaganmonk)
A E and no vowels - Team Black (ex. Triaxx or DCGFTW)

Despite use of my name as example, I will endeavor to remain a neutral moderator, and as such I will feel free to post commentary in either teams thread on moves already made, without reference to the other team's discussion. Scratch that, by vote of both teams, I'll respect their request.

I'm going to say a big no to the bolded. You may not refer to the other team's discussion, but the fact you've seen it may influence your comments. If you're neutral, you shouldn't comment on the game in any way that might influence it.

Also, our team captain appears to have posted since this thread went up, but nothing here, so I'll do it:

1. e4

By the way, have any of you seen this (http://www.apronus.com/chess/wbeditor.php)? That would help for visualization.

I'd recommand puting an image in the OP suing something like this tool (http://www.chessvideos.tv/chess-diagram-generator.php) to generate the board.

Edit: lol, missed the earlier post about that.

Clarification, please.

Did you move the black queen to e6, the black bishop to e6, or did you move the king pawn on e7 to e6?

Respectfully,

Brian P.

If it doesn't specify a piece, it's always the pawn (such is the rules).

Gentles,

I have proposed a move to my team. If I hear nothing in 48 hours, I will make the proposed move.

Respectfully,

Brian P.

I'm sorry, but this game is over. We have agreed on a scedule of "about 1 move per day", and while I can overlook the occasional need to think it over for 2-3 days, I must respectfully draw the line at 3 weeks.

Continuing the game at this point is completely unfair toward my own team - unlike your side, we were making decent effort to keep the game going in a timely fashion, but my teammates got disheartened and disinterested due to your side's repeatable and over-the top tardiness. Should you gallivant with a move almost 1 month late, and expect my team to follow you like a slavish lapdog, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.

Game over, white forfeits on time.

'Slavish lapdog'?

It is because I felt ashamed that *your* team was still participating (judged by the fact that your thread is still active) while my own seems to have disappeared en masse that I came back here, to represent team white all by myself, despite the fact that I am completely out of my depth as a chess novice in doing so.

If there's going to be rudeness, aim at the flawed team-generation algorithm which seems to have landed 90% of the interested players on Team Black. I don't think there were ever more than five people on Team White. I don't know where they all disappeared to.

I propose -- if there is ever another of these games ever again -- that a different algorithm be chosen. Perhaps making use of the die-roller here; 'evens' on team black and 'odds' on team white, on a 1d20 roll.

Respectfully and sadly,

Brian P.
