Can anyone direct me or if not post, a list of generic classes used in fantasy RPGs that you can think of? If not, even some of your own or made up ones would be nice too. Just not Hellfire Doomcaster, or something. :smallannoyed: Really anything that can be used as a the name of a class.

By this mean a list of every class from everything, if possible. Ex. From generic fantasy: Warrior, Thief, Priest, Wizard. Dnd: Barbarian, Monk, Sorcerer. Final Fantasy: Soldier, Red Mage, Dragoon. Etc.

If it is something obscure or game-specific, like Red Mage, be sure to include a short description, like: Mage with versatility, can wield swords, can cast white and black magic.

I will try to check regularly and add them all on a list. Also, if you can/would like, try to categorize them by their roles, like Melee, Healer, Ranged, Agile, etc.

Hm, only ones I can name that aren't on there are:

Spellsword
Swashbuckler
Alchemist
Crusader
Hunter
Anti-Mage / Spellbreaker
Fencer

also perhaps:

Templar - I noticed this one comes up in quite a few games
Blacksmith - Seen it a few times, sometimes called "Battlesmith" but that's a bit out there.

That's all off the top of my head, I can probably find a good many more in a bit.

Ragnarok Online
Swordsman
Merchant - Buys and sells stuff as well as hits people with its cart.
Taekwon - Fights with feet
Star Gladiator - Gains a bunch of bonuses in areas it designates at its sign for the stars, moon, and sun - as well as bonus to "favored enemies".
Soul Linker - Links to other characters. Gives huge bonuses unique to the class of that character (the Wizard no longer uses gemstones to cast, for example).
Minstrel - Magic through Music, plays music for Gypsy.
Gypsy - Magic through Dance, dances for Minstrel.
Professor - Mage, Elementalist, Support
Creator - Creates and controls a homunculus

Mordor: The Depths of Dejenol
Nomad - Thief/Warrior who levels quickly
Villain
Seeker - Agile. Thief/Mage/Warrior who specializes in mobility, finding stuff, and breaking magical barriers. Most perceptive class.
Scavenger - Agile. As the seeker, but gets rid of mage, is less warrior, but is a lot more thief.
Healer - Healer
Villain - Thief, Warrior, Healer... thing.

D20 Modern is generic enough to fit fantasy: Strong Hero, Fast Hero, Tough Hero, Smart Hero, Dedicated Hero, and Charismatic Hero

Exactly what it says on the tin.

Can anyone direct me or if not post, a list of generic classes used in fantasy RPGs that you can think of? If you're looking for names, just pick any profession name, title, or function appropriate to the genre. But many, perhaps even most, RPG systems don't use "classes".

The SRD also has generic classes: the Expert (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/genericClasses.htm#expert), the Spellcaster (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/genericClasses.htm#spellcaster), & the Warrior (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/genericClasses.htm#warrior). I usually call them the Skillmonkey, the Super-Sorcerer, & the fighter**.

**fighter doesn't deserve to be capitalized.
