Fire Emblem: The Lost Flame: Nobles

The land of Polerin is in grave peril. It's easternly neighbor, the Empire, has decided to focus it's attention on tiny Polerin. A few brave knights, shall go on an epic quest to build up the greatest fighting force in all history. Meanwhile, a group of mercenaries, held together despite all odds, shall discover a secret hidden in history, a secret so powerful it was forgotten by force, buried with the people who hid it.

Chapter 1: The Invasion
A small group of nobles and their vassals have been sent by King Murdock to clear out a small group of bandits by the northern border. Meanwhile, Lord Almas the Mad, vassal to the king and ruler of the northeastern lands, has hired a group of mercenaries to protect the towns in the area from the bandits. Neither group knows how they will change the face of history, when the fragile peace crumbles to a foul emperors hand.

The knight regards Sedrick coldly. "You're welcome to continue your prattling. But do try to finish in time to take part in the battle." He spurs his horse onward, charging from C18 to B12 and striking at the nearest bandit.

(Based on our respective stats and weapons, I believe that I do 11x2 damage to the bandit with 100% accuracy, and accordingly kill him. If I don't, disregard the following and I'll edit it out once I'm notified otherwise)

After cutting the brigand down, Renard turns his gaze back momentarily at Sedrick. His expression seems to say "You were saying?" Renard then focuses his attention on the foes to the north of him. He hardly seems to notice the axeman standing guard over the bridge, instead staring directly at the archer behind him with a steely determination in his eyes.

Sedrick makes rude gesture at the cavalier and starts running towards the bridge, muttering so at least some of the group can hear him:

(4is111 makes an excellent point, actually. Not only does attacking the thief allow us to kill more units this turn, but it allows Renard to attack an archer sooner. I hadn't even noticed the archer at I10, but taking him would happen even quicker than taking out the C5 archer, thus better fulfilling Renard's goal of securing a safe attack route for his CO.

Can I take my move back, Hadoka? If I can, Renard is going to move to G15 and attack the enemy Thief with his lance. Fluff will still be the same, Renard will still throw a childish insult at Sedrick and then focus his attention on the nearest archer.)

Renard

A wave of embarrassment rushes to Renard's face as he hears his commander's words. She is right, of course, this is no time to bicker with allies. He considers offering an apology, but this is no time for apologies either. There will be time after the battle.

For now, it seems like Ser Boral has already charged headlong at the archer that Renard was planning to kill. Her valor and skill are commendable, but she has also turned her back to a pair of axemen. They think they shall mount a cowardly ambush against Renard's commander. They are mistaken.

Renard moves from G15 to J12 and attacks the bandit at K12 with his Iron Sword.

That leaves two bandits. Gefahr will no doubt strike down the other, and the survivor will pose no threat alone. Renard does not even seem to consider the surviving bandits on his side of the bridge, instead shouting at the two to the north of him. "Lay down your arms, honorless dogs! You may yet know mercy today!"

(By the way, I noticed immediately after declaring my revised move that while it allows for Gefahr to have an easier target, it also places me in the attacking range of the two guys across the bridge. I have no intention of hogging all the XP, so if anyone wants me to revise my move to one that doesn't get as many combats, I'd be glad to)

Sedrick watches as his companions tear into the bandits and starts to sneak around the battle, setting his sights to one of the burly axe-users that had Daniel surrounded. If he does not get to shoot someone soon he is going to be very, very annoyed. And annoyed Sedrick usually equals backstabbing Sedrick.

He edges behind the axe-user and lifts his bow, aiming it squarely at his back and quipping:

"Understood, milady!" Ser Boral hardly even needed to give the command: as soon as Renard saw the girl out of the corner of his eye, he knew he needed to keep her safe from the raging battle. He couldn't make out the specifics of her style of dress from this distance, so he couldn't quite tell whether she was an innocent lady put to flight by these vile bandits, or an opportunistic peasant scavenger. Either way, she was to be kept safe until the fighting subsided.

Renard moves from J12 to J9 and attacks the J10 brigand with his sword.

He then calls out at the girl to his east. "Milady, hold your ground! You are safe where you are, but if you move further you may fall prey to these monsters!" He then scans around to make sure his statement is actually accurate. For now, at least, it is.

Sedrick smiles cruelly as he thinks the pain hit to the stomach is sure to cause to this amateur, his demonic smirk creating sharp contrast with his serene, almost holy outlook.

EDIT: Actually, my entire HP situation is just a bit confusing. The same bandit did me 4 damage this turn after doing me 1 damage last turn. If I'm adding everything up correctly and assuming weapon stats from Sacred Stones, I should have taken 2 + 1 + 1 damage so far and be at 13/17.

Sorry if I'm being persnickety about this all, I'm just trying to figure out if I have enough HP to go charging in against Baltis.

Renard

The cavalier saw his commander get struck by an arrow out of the corner of his eye, and his first thought was to cry out her name and rush to her assistance. Yet within a second he realized the folly of the idea: the archer responsible was already surrounded and about to be struck down, Erisis was nearby and ready to provide healing to Ser Boral, and Renard had other objectives to carry out. A knight is driven by duty. A knight brings justice to the wicked.

And there was indeed a wicked man to be struck down. To the north, near the village his men had ransacked, the leader of these monsters was waiting. Renard spurred his horse towards the huge bandit, stopping several paces before him.

"You are the leader of these brigands, are you not? You are the one who ordered them to kill, to pillage, to rape?" The knight drew his sword. "I offered your men mercy, wretch. They instead chose to die by my blade. For you, there will be no offer. There will be no mercy." Renard pointed his sword straight at Baltis and continued with icy determination. "There will only be swift justice." And with that, he charged forward.

Renard moves from J9 to I4 and attacks Baltis with his sword.

(Note: I'm making this move on the assumption that Renard is at 13/17 HP. If he's at 8 or lower, for whatever reason, please tell me and I'll come up with a different move. Probably visiting the village or something.)

Sedrick watched with slightly bored expression as the bowman he wounded limbs away, getting himself into hopeless position. He even dares to smile slightly as commander gets an arrow to her side, confident that she will live but definitely not feel very well. That ought to teach them to respect bowmen!

Becoming disinterested at soon-to-come very one-sided fight, he spots the last enemy alive and starts to trudge towards him, drawing yet another arrow. While running, he yells:

Sedrick returns to the group and looks at Laryss with raised eyebrow.

With that he walks to nearest enemy to see that he has been killed for good, putting arrow through the head of the corpse just to be sure. Satisfied with the fact that the enemy is truly dead, Sedrick begins to loot the bodies littered across the battlefield, not bothering to give the rest of the team a second glance.

Renard

Renard sheathes his sword and has his horse canter back across the bridge to his commander. He notices her administering the rite of induction upon this wandering girl, and his eyes momentarily go wide with surprise. It may not be wise to immediately lend such trust to a newcomer--but then again, Ser Boral's judgment has yet to fail. Renard brings his horse to a stop before the two, and does a shallow bow to Laryss.

"I welcome you to the service, milady. I am Renard, knight of Polerin. Your aid in combating these beasts will no doubt be appreciated."

With that, Renard turns to Kaja and speaks again. His tone is noticeably less confident and authoritative than usual, and he casts his eyes slightly downward.

"Ser Boral, I checked the area where the bandits' leader was staying. There were no others, though we should return to search the area more thoroughly after we ensure the safety of everyone here."

"And also... my apologies. You are entirely right: the battlefield is no place for childish bickering. Sedrick is a valuable ally, and I should not have antagonized him so. I only hope... that my service in this battle has made amends for my thoughtless misconduct."
