View Full Version : Dungeon Crawling Walterwise Peach & Alexis

You and your friend have been looking to lead a life of adventure. One day on your way out of town you spot some bloody footprints and follow them. They lead you to a Dungeon entrance you have never seen before. When you step inside, the door closes behind you and your comrade.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/ramage8504/Entrance.jpg

You entered from the door to your west. There is a campfire, still lit in the middle of the room. There are also torches lit at the entrance to the door to the East and the door to the South. Bloody footprints lead to the door to the East. The illumination in the room is shadowy.

Walterwise Peach (http://www.thetangledweb.net/forums/profiler/view_char.php?cid=35735)

Peach pulls a torch off the wall and sticks it in his backpack so that the flaming end illuminates the area. "East, or West?"

Alexis takes stock of her surroundings, "Walter.. This could be even greater than we imagined. And a thousand times more dangerous. It seems that light will not be a problem."

Sitting down, Alexis starts to draw on the raw earth, "I must seek my blessings. Please be still a minute."

As Alexis starts her meditation, she draws a complex binding circle on the ground. In moments, a huge icicle bursts through the seal, and a winter-white minotaur can be seen through the ethereal ice.

Alexis rises, renewed with energy. However, her face is rougher, almost ugly and her bulk grows, making her burly and strong with the aid of the mother minotaur. She draws her Axe, and straps a shield to her arm, "We will follow the foot prints. They haven't met a grizzly end yet!"

Alexis, as a Killoren, will meditate and enter the "aspect of the hunter".
Aspect of the hunter:
+2 racial bonus to Hide, M.Silently, listen, spot.
+2 racial bonus to initiative.

After that, she'll start binding Haagenti, the Mother of minotaurs. The Binding DC is 17. If I fail, I'm subject to her influence. Either way, I gain the bonuses. of..

[roll0]

A confusing touch.
Immunity to transformation.
Shield proficiency.
Axe Proficiency.

Binding takes 1 minute.

Heh, I failed. Alexis now feels ashamed and bashful in the presence of beautiful or charismatic creatures, and must give deference to them. This could be simple courtesy, or acknowledging the creature is superior. If I don't treat them with respect, I'll take -1 to attacks, saves, and checks until Haagenti leaves.

As the door opens, you can here the yelping of kobolds and the banging of wood on stone as the chairs they were in flip over, you have thoroughly caught them off guard.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/ramage8504/1E1Prison.jpg

One of the koblds is standing in front of the table, 15 feet in front of the door. The other kobold is standing 5 feet south of him.

Glyphic
2010-03-17, 06:18 PM
Are the kobolds armed, or do they look otherwise dangerous?

Assuming they look dangerous, the plan is to charge. KoboldA.

"Despicable scaled ones!" Yells Alexis, "Surrender now, or be cleft in twain!"

-2 ac for charging, bringing me to 15, 10ff, 13T

Alexis' battleaxe nearly cleaves the kobold in two.

His kobold friend jumps back (5ft step) and to the side and lets a rock fly from his sling.

Alexis presses forward, and tries to finish off KoboldA.

The second kobold tries to turn and run, but is dropped before he ever moved from the spot.

I search their bodies. "You lead the way."

Xealot7
2010-03-18, 03:24 PM
You find, 1 small spear, 1 small sling, 2 small studded leather armors, and 5 smooth stones.

esorscher
2010-03-18, 03:33 PM
I'll take the stones, but leave the rest. If I can find the stone I hit the kobold with, I'll pick that up too.

Xealot7
2010-03-18, 03:38 PM
You can. Where to now?

esorscher
2010-03-18, 03:41 PM
Well, I'm going to wait for the more combat-ready partner to lead, but I'll take this time to search the room for traps, secret doors, anything like that. I'll take 20, with a +8 modifier.

Xealot7
2010-03-18, 03:45 PM
You find nothing of interest, there are only 4 doors to the north, 4 doors to the south, 1 door to the east and the door you entered to the west.

Glyphic
2010-03-18, 07:06 PM
Lets check the upper left door, and then move right. Hopefully, they're small closets.

Moderately-high busy today. Don't expect too many posts!

esorscher
2010-03-18, 07:13 PM
I'll search for traps, take out my chalk and mark the door. If I don't find any traps, I'll open it.

Search: [roll0]

Xealot7
2010-03-19, 10:33 AM
When you open the door, you see that it is small prison cell, inside is a chest.

esorscher
2010-03-19, 10:47 AM
Taking care to keep the door open, I'll search the room for traps, and if I find none, the chest.

"This would be your area expertise."

Alexis returns to the main room with many doors, to keep watch, "There is no hurry. Be patient and wise."

Xealot7
2010-03-19, 07:55 PM
You find nothing unusual about the chest or the room, aside from there being a chest in a cell.

It is however locked.

esorscher
2010-03-19, 10:06 PM
Take 20 on Open Lock, if I can. Otherwise: [roll0]

Xealot7
2010-03-20, 10:19 AM
It takes you several minutes to get it right, but finally the mechanism to the look releases. Inside you find gold coins, quite a few gold coins. 250 gold coins to be exact.

esorscher
2010-03-20, 10:25 AM
We'll split them, and I'll go check the next door.

Search:[roll0]

Xealot7
2010-03-20, 10:27 AM
I'll let that count for all of the doors, to speed things along. You find nothing odd about them and they are all unlocked.

esorscher
2010-03-20, 10:30 AM
Ok, I'm going to mark each door with chalk as I open it, but open each one carefully, starting with the second from the right.

Xealot7
2010-03-20, 10:32 AM
Each of the next 7 doors look identical to the first, except, no chest.

If you want I can post the map for each room, but I think it is somewhat unnecessary.

esorscher
2010-03-20, 10:36 AM
It is unnecessary. I'll take 20 for search in the room looking for secret doors, chests, compartments, whatever, before we move to the next room.

Xealot7
2010-03-20, 10:37 AM
You find nothing.

esorscher
2010-03-20, 10:39 AM
I figured. We'll move on to the next room, I guess east or right or whatever. Alexis will lead. I'll take 20 on the search check to search the door to this room as well.

Xealot7
2010-03-20, 10:53 AM
When you enter the room, you see a a half-orc standing int he center of a grace/hex (whichever you prefer). He is severely wounded... or was. His wounds appear to be healing on their own. He is clad in banded mail and raises his spear when Alexis enters the room. He continues chanting and nearly doubles in size.

http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/ramage8504/1E2BedChamber.jpg

Glyphic
2010-03-20, 03:27 PM
"Dear Walter, forgive me for skipping words, but this threat seems best to deal with immediately. Can you keep him out of that symbol?"

Because of her Aspect, Alexis has +4 initiative. Assuming its her turn first and the Orc isn't gonna do anything..

Alexis drops her worn axe at Walter's feet, and draws a replacement. With a short step, she hurls it at the half-orc, "Nature's ways are pure! I will grind you into mush!"

"...And if you would please hand that axe back to me, Walter.."

Dropping is free, move to retreive, and then a standard to attack.
[roll0]
[roll1]

esorscher
2010-03-20, 03:41 PM
Walter picks up and hands the axe to Alexis, and casts Shield of Faith on her (+2 deflection to AC for 10 rounds).

"This should help you against that beast, but I don't have anything I can use to keep him out of that glyph."

Xealot7
2010-03-20, 03:56 PM
The axe hits the Orc squarely, doing some damage. He steps forward and attempts to hit Alexis with his spear.

That nice little chop chop does the trick and the large orc falls to the ground. As he does his body returns to medium size.

2010-03-21, 10:36 AM
We'll search his body, as well as the room. Take 20, or else:

He drops a MW Spear, 3 spears, banded mail, and 50 gold. You also find a book, the Necronomicon written in Orc,

esorscher
2010-03-21, 12:19 PM
"Which of this do you want to take?" Walter says, splitting the gold.

Glyphic
2010-03-21, 01:59 PM
"I've never been the bookish sort." Says Alexis, as she retrieves her axe. "I will take the spears. They're a might big for you."

Sizing up the armor, she declares, "I may find a use for this."

I'll take the spears, since they're not your size. Speak up if you'd like one. I'm kinda considering using one, after we take a rest, or whenever I can switch my vestiges up. (they're normally bound for 24 hours.) With Aym, I can use medium armors, keep my 30ft speed, and have some fire resistance. I'd have 17 AC with the banded mail alone, which is just as good as studded, 2 dex, and my shield. But then I could wield two-handed weapons.

After taking some time to check in the barrels and under the bed, Alexis declares, "We shall go north next."

esorscher
2010-03-21, 02:03 PM
"Sounds great, lead the way. I'll take the book, but you can keep the weapons. Anything we don't need, we can sell."

Glyphic
2010-03-21, 02:08 PM
"Sell?" Alexis almost stops before realizing, "Town. I much prefer it here, so far. You can kill the things that annoy you."

How much experience did the orc drop? >.>

Xealot7
2010-03-22, 04:42 PM
You enter the room to the north, and it appears to be a study of some sort... however you hear bone on stone, almost like foot steps.

Weighing her axe, club, and spear, Alexis looks to Walterwise, "Well, they sound dead already. Which weapon was it, again?"

She waits for council, and holds her shield at the ready.

esorscher
2010-03-22, 04:59 PM
"It sounds like bone, so I'd go with the club." Walter suggested, loading a bullet into his sling.

Glyphic
2010-03-22, 05:09 PM
"Ah, yes. The club." She wields it, "Such an ignoble weapon. Perhaps I will rough up a drunken man after this?"

"Let us finish them off. Dead forever."

She takes a defensive stance, and moves forward to encounter whatever they are.

Awesome. Walter will search the room, particularly the desk and the coffins. Taking 20.

Xealot7
2010-03-24, 05:22 PM
The coffins are empty. They have scratch marks on them, and appear to be where these creatures came from. There is a book, with quill in it, that appears to be the diary of that orc you killed in the previous room.

There is a hex, just like the one in the previous room, only with a fire in the middle of it.

esorscher
2010-03-24, 05:32 PM
"Can you read Orc?" I will make a Knowledge (Arcana) check on the Hex, as well.

I need to take ranks in Spellcraft when I level up, I don't know how I missed that.

[roll0]

Glyphic
2010-03-25, 01:51 AM
"No, but I can read Giant. Not that is a particularly hard accomplishment."

"That hex.. the other one made the orc double. This one could be dangerous, with fire in the center."Looking to Walter, she states, "I am wounded." 5/10 hp.

K.Arcana on the hex.
[roll0]

esorscher
2010-03-25, 09:49 AM
Walter ditches a prepared Entropic Shield for a CLW, touching Alexis.

[roll0]

"I'm almost out of spells, and I've turned undead twice out of three uses."

Xealot7
2010-03-25, 10:24 AM
You can't really read any of the book, but you figure it is a journal by the way the entries are made. The hex, looks like it was used to help the caster bring these creatures to life. You don't think it has powers of it own, but that maybe it just enhances necromatic abilities.

esorscher
2010-03-25, 10:25 AM
"We should rest soon so I can recover my spells."

Glyphic
2010-03-25, 05:10 PM

I'll move some stuff infront of the door, so that anything entering has to make some noise.

esorscher
2010-03-25, 05:20 PM

Unless I have good DM graces, I still can't change my bind or aspect for another 15-ish hours.

Alexis waits for about half an hour, before dismantling the barricade, "We shouldn't rest here again."

Deciding, she leads Walter back to the room with the dead orc, this time indicating the south door. "Walter, if you would check that for traps before we commence, I would be appreciative."

Then she'll step through, into their next adventure..

Gonna roll to save time <.< It seems to be Walters standard approach anyway!

Xealot7
2010-03-29, 03:02 PM
You find no traps.

Going through the door, you enter the following room.

You enter a well lit room, with large rugs along this large hallway. There are some paints hanging along the walls although they are rather crude and of poor quality.

Aside from the door you entered there is a door to the East and a Door to the North.

Glyphic

"I can't say I like the decor. I think there may be something in the walls, or under the rugs. Provided something in here has a malicious intent on killing us."

Alexis draws her club, and waits for Walter to do his thing.

I vote for the north door, after we search. We'll come back later and get the rugs too, on our way to town. They could be worth something.
