After Comic 707, what I find odd is that they felt the need to lie their paladin united commander about killing an unarmed and bound, currently non-hostile non-combatant, in direct circumvention of his orders? If Thanh was like those who slaughtered Redcloak's village, why would they feel the need to lie to him about that?

Why would you assume Thanh is like the paladins who slaughtered Redcloak's village?

I'm sure someone's already coined the logical fallacy of assuming that everyone in a nation/group/organization are exactly like all the other members.

Well, Miko, that renowned expert on everything, says clearly in her foreword to SoD that all members of an alignment are just like each other and we can't distinguish between them. (That's before she decides to execute the reader for reading the book.) Surely that's good enough for you?

At any rate, recent Word of God is that at least some of those Paladins fell, so maybe, you know, Thanh is NOT like those guys.

Correction: recent word of God (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8081896&postcount=21) is that just because we didn't see any fall doesn't mean none did. The Giant left it deliberately open as to whether any fell and which ones did if they did.

Ah, you're right. And to the PP - it's in the link, of course :P

What leads us to believe that Thanh is okay with executing goblins at random? He's featured in the first panel, only. He's not on the tower. He does not express an opinion later in the strip.

Didn't you answer your own question? "If Thanh was like the ones who slaughtered Redcloak's village"--well, clearly he isn't like them, is he? Don't know why you're even asking the question.

Contrary to popular belief, paladins are not all exactly the same as every other paladin.
