A little while ago, I had a character that was a factotum 3 / archivist 3 (not gesalt). For obvious reasons, it wasn't as optimal as it could be. Eventually I gave up on the character, because my party's view of what my role should be (cleric) didn't fit with what I was able to do, since I was casting as a level 3 at level 6. I rerolled as a conjurer -> malconvoker

Fast forward to today. The DM is ending his campaign (it has grown stale). As a last hurrah, he's advancing all the characters to level 21, and mine to level 20 (I was a couple of levels behind, it's reasonable). One of the players has gone rogue, and it's up for the other players to stop him from destroying the world.

He also said he'd give us the leadership feat, and immediately I asked if I could resurrect my factotum as a cohort.

So now I have to turn a factotum 3/archivist 3 into something useful to have around. Since I'm level 20, my cohort can be level 17. In addition, when the character died, it was stated that she was raised to archon status. It's not defined exactly what that means, but there's that to play with (though I don't really want to just play a 17th level archon, I'd like to begin with the same chassis.)

Anyone have any ideas on how to salvage the character in 11 levels? All sources are available, except for incantrix, planar shepard, and horizon walker. I think the best I can hope for is a character who can cast lots of mass buffs on the party, but I'm definitely open to other concepts. The character was bookish in life, but 11 levels take a long time to gain.

Hrmmm... Chameleon (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/iw/20041210b) generally does the spell access thing better for a multiclassed character, although in this case you're high level enough to start to feel the class's lack of spell slots over 6th level. Still, if knowing arcane and divine magic is something that you were going for with this character, maybe you could rebuild a bit into a Factotum 8/Chameleon 9, or a half-celestial (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/halfCelestial.htm) Factotum 5/Chameleon 8? Assuming that your character was human. Then she could prepare arcane spells from a book and pull divine spells from the ether like you're supposed to, instead of the reverse. :smalltongue: And she'd have caster level 18 or 16, which is nice.

I gather that standard Factotum feat selection is Font of Inspiration (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/frcc/20070606) x however many spare feats you have lying around, although if you take less than 8 Factotum levels I don't know that that's worth the investment.
