So my group is starting a 4e game on Saturday. First time playing d&d 4e. I am thinking about making a barbarian than taking feats to multi-class into warden. Race is going to be half-Orc. Is multi classing barbarian with warden a good idea? Any tips for this build? Books allowed phb 1 and 2.

It's plausible... though Primal Power does nothing but awesome to Half-Orc Barbarians, and Adventurer's Vault includes the best base weapons in the game. Get those books. Or at least have the DM shell out *only* $10 for a 1-month subscription to DDI to get all of the currently released material (except PHB3).

Multiclass Warden is rather sad actually, sadly you would be better off multiclassing sorcerer >.<

Warden muslticlass gives you 1 mark per encounter... there are better feats out there.... And to get warden powers IF you take other feats to get those powers.

Save your feats for something else ^ ^ heavy blade opportunity or deadly rage and such

Thanks. Is there ever an advantage to multi-classing in 4e?

There can be an advantage to multi-classing; for example, Barbarians do very well with a fighter multi-class, as fighter paragon paths tend to be better than barbarian ones.

Any 4th ed barbarian player should read this (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19648686/Destruction_Manifest:_The_Barbarians_Handbook).

Multiclass feats are great, because you get a free skill with all of them, and then something else. So if you ever want to pick up an extra skill, do with with a multiclass feat. They also let you take feats and paragon paths for that class, and of course there's the actual class powers.

It's just that there's a few multiclass feats that are kind of pathetic, so it's not worth it unless you really want to take powers from that class.
