Some of you might remember this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142865) where I was trying to get in touch with Rich for something I had planned for CROSSOVERLORD, a "team" webcomic me and some other superhero webcomic creators do. Sort of a Crisis-type interdimensional thingee, except we're having FUN with it. And along the way, we've (with the creators' permission) cameoed GIRL GENUIS, GUNNERKRIGG COURT, DIESEL SWEETIES and other wonderful webcomics. We've been trying to give the readers a feel for the wide range of good webcomics out there...

Well, I never was able to get in touch in Rich, despite trying to PM him several times, (understandable: I know he's busy) and since I've noticed other comics done in his style, such as here (http://i42.tinypic.com/200vfrc.png), I decided that we could do a stylistic tribute/parody as long as we didn't use any of his copyrighted characters. (Too bad. I would have liked to have a one-panel short of the OOTS characters watching them leave and saying, "What a bunch of weirdos.")

So...we did a one-time tribute/parody at http://www.drunkduck.com/Crossoverlord/?p=683770 for those of you interested. This is meant as a homage and a tribute, not a rip-off. And as for the skull-headed lich-king spellcaster mentioned in the last panel whose name sounds like "Xylophone"....

I haven't the faintest idea who the Keepers are talking about.

Honest.

Would I lie to you?

I think tribute is better than parody. As it's comedic already, making a parody might just force it into being kind of stupid.

Stupid question but... where are the OotS-characters? :smallconfused:

Ah, my bad. It's just an advertisement for something that's not OotS-related at all. ;)

As much as I like to encourage people to go for what they wish in life and to be creative, I pretty much expect this thread to be closed quite soon (now in the light of the somewhat new information that I did not manage to read before).

Just so you know, the Giant has outlined his generally acceptable/not acceptable practices regarding cameos in this thread (stickied in the Arts & Crafts: Fan Comics sub-forum)

Fan Comic Guidelines (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103774)

About halfway through the first post, there is a section "Fan Comic Content". It has information about cameos and what the Giant asks and will/will not challenge, copyright wise.

Ahhh, good. I wish someone had pointed me to that guideline on the OTHER thread.

I thought it as item of interest to OOTS-fans, not an advertisement, but I'll grant you sometimes the line can be thin. In all honesty, I was MORE concerned that some would not read further in the comments on the CROSSOVERLORD page and be outraged that we were "mocking" OOTS.

Oh well. If this is locked, it's locked. Just wanted to explain.
