This one was taken late last year, after I'd gotten my hair dyed brown again. Can't really be bothered doing that again though.

From around graduation early last summer.

From our SOS Brigade group cosplay in Tracon III, early 2008. I was cosplaying Kyon, the hand belongs to a friend who cosplayed Haruhi.

Wow, I go missing for a Saturday (spent all day at a friend's house to work on cosplay accessories and all evening out) and there's three whole pages! ><

I'm actually surprised so much people think I'm cute -that doesn't happen a lot to me in RL... if they do think I'm cute, they don't say it to my face- maybe I should just wear the wig everyday XD

@ Starfols: I'll go with definitely male.

Starfols: Is that mostly from behind? My ex got that all the time, even with a chin at least as manly as yours and covered in stubble, even after he cut his hair a lot shorter.

@ Serp: I guess the whole 'ambiguously gendered' look isn't so much popular in my neighborhood X°D but seriously I really like it when I pop around here with a pic and you guys tell me it's nice regardless of what gender could I belong to

@ Starfols: ambiguity is a matter of details... for example if I go around in baggy clothing and loose hair, people just say 'girl' for how small I am, but then if they see me when I'm moving around and talking -even though my voice is as ambiguous as my face- they just say 'male'... I've reached a point where I don't think I'm of a definite gender anymore... result: the man at my entrusted hardware store calls me 'lad', or 'son', or 'my boy'; the people at the store where I buy wigs, make-up and other cosplay apparel call me 'miss', random people usually call me "hey you" to not face the dilemma of choosing. XD
I've also been told that I look girly in men's clothing and manly in women's.

You have the face of man. Your nose looks like it could have been your mother's/grandmother's, but the rest is pretty manly. I can't really tell by the picture, but you probably have your mother's hair thickness. This is more or less a guess.

Close RL friends and relatives do, though it's never a problem since they treat me just as myself, regardless of what I am/could be.

From behind, and sometimes from the front. I think it has to do with the way I move and carry myself. What tips people off is usually my voice, and if the lighting is right, my chin.

It's not that I mind being feminine or anything, it's just a lot of conversations with people become awkward, either through confusion or attraction. :smallsigh:

Starfols: I had a girlfriend who stopped wearing hoodies for the longest time because she kept getting mistaken for a boy when she was working for the city pool in their concessions stand. Mostly because she had short hair and her hoodies were baggy like men's clothing.

So I guess identify problem areas and adjust the dials a bit until you've found your ideal compromise between comfort and laziness and projected self.

One of these days/months/years I'm actually going to get arounfd to buying a camera so I can participate in this thread a little. I've always wanted to, but the aforementioned lack of a camera keeps it away. I think it's second on the list of handheld electronic devices I need to get. The first thing is an mp3 player. I'm gonna get that when my current CD player dies. We'll see how long that takes...

Also, so that I'm participating more than just saying how much I want to participate, I have to say the best part about my job is hearing children asking their parents, "Can boys have long hair?" Comedy gold.

Not of my own choosing, though.

I wanted to to do laces up the front, too, but I didn't have enough ribbon. So I gotta buy myself more.

The white shirt is the upper half of an old flannel nightgown, taken in with new sleeves (the drapey things) attached and the collar pinned under. The vest is a tank top. I cannibalized the neckline and sewed the laces into the back. Like I said, I'm going to do laces in the front too when I get the ribbon for it.

Cute, very cute.

I think laces upfront would actually make it look a bit hobbit-y and possibly more medieval-ish.

Also, yus, a skirt would make it look way more hobbit-y then jeans.

Heh, I thought everyone here knew that story. I was sparring with a woman I'd been flirting with. I'd been studying Aikido at the time, so I was working on takedowns and pins. She asked me, "Once you've pinned someone, what do you do with them?" So, I pinned her and kissed her. We were together for many years from that point...

Skill! I like brown, black or grey for a skirt, though blue in the right shade would probably have a more fantasy feel. How do you cannibalize a neckline? Force-feed it other necklines? Laces in the front AND back might be a bit weird. Maybe make a second with ones just on the front. But then, what do I know.

In summary: Cool.

Lucky you. I was required to shave my goatee for work, but I still get "spoken to" sometimes when I come in. They just don't understand that, if I shave at 10am, by the time my 3pm shift rolls around, half my face is covered in stubble.

I mean, really! Back when I had a job that allowed facial hair, I couldn't grow anything other than the one spot of goatee on my chin; Now that I'm not allowed facial hair, it sprouts from my eyes down after just a few hours. :smallannoyed:

Though, I do (in fact) have to admit, my Xexto (that's the species btw) in a ZZ Top gettup would be fairly rocksome. Unfortunately, I can't draw to save my life, so are you offering?

Also, ZZXexto would be amazing. Someone, make this man a ZZXexto stat!

Safety hazard for the baby? Oh. Oh, wait, not by Alarra yet. I was confused there for a moment why she'd choose now of all times to make that request. Usually is sooner rather than later. But then The Coming Of The Pudding Troll might have distracted her from such.

No, it was requested by Alarra's grandmother that I be cleaned up by PuddingTroll's christening in May. Meaning I need to get a haircut, too. And it's just starting to get to a point that I would call it "long" instead of just "shaggy".

I'm quite certain that religious "naming" is very seperate from official, secular naming nowadays. Used to be that babies that died before being Christened became ghosts/didn't go to Heaven/whatever, but I don't think many/anyone believes that anymore.
Do you really know people who consider a baby to be unnamed until its Christening? :smallconfused: If so, I presume that excludes people who don't do it at all...

Well, mostly it seems about 3-4 months late, unless I'm wildly misremembering when Alarra disappeared to create the child out of the aether. I've only ever heard of it being done for one month olds, at least as like, a ceremony sort of deal.

I was actually mainly amused by the idea of the child not having a name yet and them having just been calling it the Pudding Troll since he was born.

Anyhoo, here's why you don't take close-up shots of me. LE HORR-AIR!

Actually, he was born in August. Alarra and I don't particularly care about the christening, but it is very important to her grandma. So we'll do it. But since we live on the east coast and we have to arrange for us and the godparents (who live in Florida) to get to South Dakota, we haven't had the official ceremony yet.

As for my long hair, part of the problem is that it is also very thick and full, so when it grows out, it doesn't just hang down my back like a lot of peoples'. In any case, to more conservative persons, such as Alarra's grandma, any long hair makes me look rather unpresentable (she also caught me after having just woken up and without the opportunity to tend to it yet, but I doubt that would have helped enough).

And Serp, a fairly recent photo of my beard occurred late in the last thread with the picture of me with the baby on my shoulders. :smallcool:

I'll go see if I can find it....

Hello there, hot man. :smallamused:

Lioness

Lioness would like opinions as to whether her easter costume thing for this friday is too trashy. It's a friend's 18th, and, well, I've not actually been to a party before, much less one where you need to dress up. I'm gonna have a little tiny tail and the visible ears.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c305/Elery_celery/Bunny.jpg
It's probably not visible, but the top is all lace, and it's covering a boob-tube-like dress.

I'm also thinking of having black and pink looooong socks instead of the stockings, and cute little flats.

But yeah...I don't want to turn up dressed incorrectly, and whatnot.

Serpentine
2010-03-31, 07:01 AM
It's slightly borderline "sexy [blank]", but not too bad. If you're worried, some stockings will remove any hint. I reckon you should wear stockings anyway. Maybe pink ones, to go with the ears, if you can find them... Or pink and white would be even better.
edit: Silly me, didn't read the end. What stockings? And how long?

Lioness

What stockings? And how long?

Probably just-over-the-knee pink and black ones. Sort of like this (http://www.in-ovation-products.com/toe_socks/images/kneehighs.gif)
Going shopping tomorrow to find something

Coidzor

Lioness: Doesn't appear trashy at all from what I can see. We'd need better detail on the dress though, in order to give an authoritatively definitive answer, since it sort of just is a black blur at this level of lighting/focus.

From what I can see of the sleeves, the lace over-garment is non-trashy lace in and of itself. The bunny accouterments don't seem to be, especially not with what they seem to be paired with.

Depends on the nature of the party too. If it's a costume party then it's a bit on the lacking side as far as costumery goes, but should be within acceptable bounds unless your peer group likes to really go out on costuming. If it's just a mildly easter-themed birthday party, then the bunny accessories might be over the top, so unless you've already gotten signs that such is good, then I'd quietly check up on that bit.

Serp's right about the solid stockings to match your bunny bits. Anything other than solid, that I can think of, would actually be of detriment to your objective of removing all hint of being a sexual entity.

How long would these "black and pink looooong socks" be?

Boo: Unfortunately there's going to be a derth of kilt photos of me anytime soon. Unless I say screw it and get my parents to ship it out here to me. Not sure I wanna risk it though. If I stay here for next year I'll probably have it then. Who knows, if the idea of a roadtrip manages to occur, I might end up crossing part of the US in a kilt.

Kinda meaning to get ahold of one of those utilikilts though, before too, too long. Try out something other than the traditional many yards of wool.

Smee: I do believe you're mistaken. That is a photo of a cold beard. Slightly damp too.

Coidzor: Sorry about the quality of the photo. My camera died, so I'm taking everything with a phone camera.
The looooooong socks/stockings shall be just over my knee. Unless I can't find any like that, in which case knee-high will do.

And I'm not adverse to being sexy, but there's a line between sexy and trashy that I don't particularly want to cross, seeing as the only people I know will be my boyfriend, my boyfriend's parents/sister, and his cousin (the friend). While I know them, I don't want to scare them too much.

Bunny things have been given a thumbs up. Best dressed bunny gets an award, and though I won't go for that at all, I'll at least make a token effort.

Heh, no need to apologize. As it stands, unless the straplessness of the dress causes slippage, is more than likely a non-issue.

Heck, if you're that worried and your boyfriend is going to be there, I imagine giving him a preview will prevent him being scared. :smallwink:

So regardless of what you do, the top of the leg covering is going to be visible and a band of leg flesh will be visible. Hmm. I hope whatever you pick has a cute top to it, then.
