Hi Playground,

Will a bard benefit from both the properties of his wands? Say to alleviate MID? We have a particularly stingy DM and it would be cheaper to spend a feat and carry a level 14 wand of thunderous anguish for the rest of my career while progressively upgrading my (plain old) magic wand(which will peak at +6 at level 6, waywaywaywayway cheaper than buying the level 29 version of the wand of thunderous anguish).

Generally, yes. Question #18 (http://wizards.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wizards.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1396).

In this case on the other hand, the Wand of Thunderous Anguish's property (I just knotted my fingers typing that) explicitely calls for "using" the wand. So, no. You need to buy up the Anguish wand.
