I have a level 12 Tashalatora PsiWar (Monk1/PsiWar11) in desperate need of Metamorphosis. "Expanded Knowledge" doesn't quite work; a non-Egoist Psion of his level could grab it that way, but PsiWar progression is slower. He can manifest powers of the right level though, and he's got potentially two feats to spend, though I'd really rather save one of them. Is there a way to make it work?

If you can afford it, I think the Skin of Proteus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#skinofProteus) is your best bet. It can do as a substitute until you can pick it up through a feat so you can use your own manifester level.

Find a few ways to buff your Psicraft (a few cross-class ranks, some Aid Anothers, some skill-boosting items), and research it. You can get it by your current level, which will, yes, take up a power known, but it's definitely worth it for just about any psychic warrior. Then you can research psychic reformation (so useful) and get Craft Universal Item (or team up with someone who has it already), and make a skin of proteus.

Also, pay a telepath or erudite for a manifestation of psychic chirurgery.

You could take a single level in egoist and use power stones, as well.

If you want, you could also have someone use psychic reformation on you (or just research it and do it yourself) and change yourself to a mantled warrior variant (see here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a)).

And that's about all I can think of off the top of my head, though I'm sure I can come up with more, if I try.

Do you want more?

1) Take the Mantled Psychic Warrior ACF. (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070214a)
2) Grab the Natural World Mantle. Add a bunch of powers to your list for your feat instead of just one, including Metamorphosis.
3) ???
4) Profit!

BONUS 1: You now have access to the Tap Mantle and Don Mantle feats, giving you even more powers. The granted abilities of some mantles are very useful for a Psywar as well (e.g. Time and Justice.)

BONUS 2: Though you can't manifest the higher-level (6th+) powers from your mantles normally, they are still on your list, meaning you can manifest them from power stones and dorjes. This allows Psychic Warriors a way to use 9th-level powers.

BONUS 3: Gain Wild Empathy, subbing your manifester level for your ranger level. (Not sure how you'd use it, but its there!)

Mantled Warrior looks perfect! I lose a feat, gain a mantle. Exactly what I need, thanks!
