View Full Version : [3.5] Is there software I can use to incrementally progress my character?

Sure, I can use a pencil and paper or just erase and rewrite stuff on myth-weavers, but both of those involve backtracking everything something changes... is there any software that can "add" things to what I already have as I add them on?

For example, I start with my character as a level 1 Sorcerer, then I add another level of Sorcerer, and keep going until I'm a Sorcerer 6/Ruathar 1/Sacred Exorcist 4/Abjurant Champion 4/etc...

If it does skills on a level-by-level basis, while accounting for cross-class skills at each level, I would very much appreciate seeing it as well.

I don't see why it has to be a secret though. Why not post a link publicly?

I use Heroforge and Spellforge. I think its very good.

Redblade isn't bad, although it's difficult to add custom classes.

I plot mine out in notepad with notations as needed. It works well for me and is easily decipherable. I want to know what the big secret is though.

Such a utility would be very useful. I would like to know the secret too. Or if not, a link to something else would be helpful.

I use notepad. All the flexibility and editability I need, and far more under my control.

Actually, it's the other way around. The catgirl killed curiosity.

PCGen is a pretty good tool for this, provided you don't stray too far from core.

pcgen and eTools are both quite good
though I think eTools is not available any more? (legally atleast :smallwink:)

Good advice. The spell compendium add-in is solid though.

I wrote a PHP-driven character sheet to do this - two versions, actually; one for Pathfinder and one for vanilla 3.5 - but it's not really... user-friendly.

You need to have a PHP-backed Web server for it to work, and the code/data separation is... minimal. Which is an improvement over the "non-existent" the last iteration had. There's no UI at all; you alter characters by hacking the code in the per-character includes. It's fairly incomplete, too... I tend to just hack stuff in as I need it.

But you can do things like this:
http://www.ci-n.com/~jcampbel/rpgs/dnd/pcs/pathfinder.php?char=toghrul
http://www.ci-n.com/~jcampbel/rpgs/dnd/pcs/pathfinder.php?char=toghrul&xl=10
http://www.ci-n.com/~jcampbel/rpgs/dnd/pcs/pathfinder.php?char=toghrul&xl=20

And it does understand the difference between class skills and cross-class skills at particular levels. (At least the vanilla 3.5 one does; it's not so much a concern for the Pathfinder version.)

Sorry if people think I am being secretive or hoarding a great program. I was more concerned about the propriety and forum policy about essentially advertising for a product that did not belong to this forum.

If it is any consolation, the program I referenced in my PM has been mentioned.

Again, sorry for the confusion here.

Someone likely has. I should check on that, being a mac user, actually. I've seen excel sheets before for DnD after all, that extrapolate certain things off of one's stats, for example.
