So what April Fools jokes have you come across so far?

Thinkgeek had the obligatory list of fake products
Gamefaqs just used the old "hidden poll option" gag again
dA seems to have done something to everyone's avatars and sigs.

Loved the youtube one! And looks like you can just convert some of the clips there to same format (example (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGm4NY4f46k&playnext_from=TL&videos=n44-8RfKEvE&feature=grec&textp=fool))

Ah yes... Teachers always have the best April Fool's pranks. My tutor told the class that, due to a technical error, some of us would not be able to sit their exams and therefore had to do them next year. The Geo teacher told us that the school cafe space had been bought out and was being replaced by a Starbucks. The first one, I believed. The other, not so much (I already knew that it had been bought out by Twin Palms).
Though the cake has to go to my English teacher, who sent an email around to the rest of the English staff saying she had a slow day, and was willing to mark their work for them, then tacked a note to her door saying "AS IF!" Of course, one of the other teachers suspected mental instability, and brought coffee instead. :smallamused:

On the part of my fellow students... I was told that my shoelaces were untied.
...
Yup. :smallsigh:

Tell the truth, I was bracing for a repeat of XKCD Geocities. This is much better. (My husband is happily typing in commands and remarking, "I want all of my webcomics to be delivered this way! This is great!")

One of my music classmates convinced my music teacher that he had suddenly switch from bass guitar to Tuba.

Her: So, year 12s, you'll be doing harmony. Year 11s, I want to see your arrangements.
Him: Umm, miss, I think I'd benefit more from doing prac today. You see, I've just changed my instrument from bass guitar to tuba, and I need a lot of practise.
Her: *speechless* What!?
Him: Hah. April Fools
Her: Oh. Ah. I feel funny. Don't scare me like that.

Amazing Super Powers (http://www.amazingsuperpowers.com/) switched over to audio comics, as opposed to visual ones.

Gunshow (http://gunshowcomic.com/) ended its "Anime Club" series with a mass suicide.

Questionable Content (http://questionablecontent.net/index.php) ran a page of Magical Love Gentleman.

Sam and Fuzzy (http://samandfuzzy.com/) somehow lost all of its text.

Darths and Droids (http://www.darthsanddroids.net/) has an interjection from the kid from The Princess Bride.

I played one on another forum. The mods have all swapped names with regular members and I made an announcement that "due to many complaints about slow loading times, avatars and images in signatures have been banned." I even added that you were only allowed one smily and piece of formatting per post.

Someone sent me an angry PM despite the "contact the mod team" link going to the wikipedia page on April Fools' Day...

Frankly I don't know. I would suppose there's some Linux magic to it.

Also, White Wolf's joke of the year is the Dudes of Legend: How To Be Bleeping Awesome (http://forums.white-wolf.com/cs/forums/t/25369.aspx) .pdf. And, no, it's not for Exalted. It's for WoD... O.o

Well, we managed to duplicate the thread over in media discussions, which probably counts.

Opera (http://www.opera.com/press/releases/2010/04/01/) and Mozilla (http://davidwboswell.wordpress.com/2010/04/01/featured-mozilla-based-applications-for-april/) have both hopped on the bandwagon (yes, Mosaic is the future, and you will believe in it).

Unfortunately, Mozilla's joke isn't especially in-depth, and Apple are being boring.

Nature's celebrating April Fool's Day also, where I am.

I wore shorts all last week.

And now it's snowing.
The funniest thing, though? I live in a mountainous desert.

So, it turns out Nature does have a sense of humor. Go figure.

A similar thing happend to me. My dad and brother were supposed to give me a lift back and they were snowed in at my parents house (fairly rural area with lots of thin lanes, so it took a while for a snow plough to dig them out). o_O

stuff

Hahahahaha. Also, I'm saddened that some of these I can't see. I go to google.com and it redirects me to google.nl. I went to youtube earlier today expecting a prank (much like the rick roll of last year)... and saw nothing. What the heck did I miss?

I'm also annoyed that I missed out on NPR. They usually do some really good ones. Last year they convinced my wife that the whale farms (yes, where they grow whales for meat) were very overcrowded and it's a serious problem. Gotta love it.

My colleagues and I are nominally self-employed. We get none of the perks of this, of course, only the sucky stuff, like not getting paid holiday or sick leave, and having to sort out our own tax. Some of my colleagues consider that last one a perk, as many of them are only migrants anyway, and being self-employed, see it as a great opportunity to avoid paying tax at all.

So today one of our ex-colleagues (probably the most gullible person I've ever met) got a missed call from "HMRC", who had noticed that he hadn't submitted a tax return for 2009-10 and asking for him to verify his employment details; also notifying him that there would be a fine for every week after the date the rturn was supposed to be filed by. I only realised afterwards that, since today is the start of a new tax year, that actually adds some degree of credibility to the call...

He never called back, so one of three things happened- he hasn't picked the message up yet; he twigged it was an April Fool and ignored it, or he called HMRC in a panic and confessed everything. If it was the latter, then at least I've done my bit to help reduce the deficit...

Read the text of the "did you know" and "in the news" without looking at what the hyperlinks lead to. For instance, they helpfully inform us that the Queen was captured by the Germans in 1916, and that if we are reading Wikipedia, then the Large Hadron Collider has so far failed to destroy the world.

April Fools day is one of my favorite times of the year. It brings out so much of the hilarity of the internet.
Also, if xkcd stayed that way, I'd be happy. It's so much fun ^.^

Okay... as someone who failed university math, and otherwise only knows little about it that seems unlikely, sure, but what exactly makes it an april fool? I'm quite certainly not sure if it is a joke or not.

My Econ teacher really pulled a good one. Background information, we've got a test tomorrow and have known about it for a good week or so.

At the beginning of class today she told us that, yesterday, she'd gotten an email from another teacher saying that SOMEONE from our class had somehow acquired a copy of tomorrow's test.

Us: :smalleek: :smallmad: :smallsigh: :smallfurious: *shock, horror, muttering, angry shared glances between friends and even some glaring at suspicious people*

She told us that she was really disappointed with us and, as she didn't know who it was, to get out a piece of binder paper because we're going to have a pop quiz right now that will determine your test's grade. In fact, several papers. Yes. You'll need it.

Us: :furious:   :furious: :furious: "Who the **** did this? Who's the ******** who did this? ****, I didn't study last night!"

Her: Write your name and the date at the top of the paper. ... Make sure to write the date.

Us: ...WAIT

And once we finished laughing and yelling, we gave her a standing ovation
