I want to make a mindless Megapede Zombie. (32HD)
What is the lowest level Undead creation spell I need to use?
I forget the HD limits for each spell.

Also aside from making it mindless, what would people say is the most optimal use of a fresh Megapede corpse? lol.

You could do it with Animate Dead but you have to be CL16. The higher level spells don't let you create more with a single casting, just better. I'm sure there's better ways in the Book of Bad Latin, but I don't have access to that at the moment.

No I only want to create the one. My CL is 11. But I only want to make it mindless. lol.

Edit: Yeah Animate Dead would allow it. I'd need to have a CL of 16 though. :P

Consumptive Field or Death Knell will get you CL increases to net you a higher potential undead gain. There are other ways as well, such as the Evil Domain, Orange IWIN Stones, Divine Spell Power, etc.

Actually animate Dead wouldn't work. Zombies (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Zombie) and Skeletons (http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Skeleton) have a 20 HD limit (except for Dragon Zombies and Skellies if you use the seperate rules in Draconomicon).

Ahh yeah that's what I was thought originally.

So... is there a higher level spell that would allow a mindless undead of higher HD?

I have Desecrate that I can cast.

So really the HD limit is my only problem right now. :P

You could use a Fell Animating spell, from LM. Of course, this only works if you kill the creature with the spell. Of course, you could try raising the creature after restraining it, and then whittle its HP down 1 at a time to about -8 or so, then hitting it with a Fell Animating Death Knell or really, just about any Fell Animating damage spell.

Normally that is what I'd do but the current character does not have access to Fell Animate.

If you have a lot of diamonds, you can kill and cast raise dead on the creature repeatedly, each time causing it to lose a HD until it falls within your HD limits.

Failing that, you could try and animate a Dragon instead, using the rules in Draconomicon since Dragon Zom/Skels don't have HD limits.

Delicious freshly cured megapede sausages. the venom adds a wonderful amount of flavor when sterilized over an open fire, and harmonizes well with garlic.

If you can get the DM to allow it once it is dead instead of casting it while it is alive Flesh to Salt. Salt is worth 5gp a pound, and while the thing isn't given a listed weight 15ftx100ft is still a lot of salt.

Didn't know about 20HD limit so I checked the MM. Found that, also found that creatures double their HD when you zombify them. So 32 HD Megapede... CL 6432. Definitely some kind of Create Epic Undead.

Unless Dread Necros or something out of Libris Mortis can do it.

Next round I expect to have a nice juicy fresh Megapede corpse, no Dragon I'm afraid. lol.
Also I don't fancy having to fight this thing repeatedly. It is CR 20 and we are ECL 15 (although being Gestalt we are crushing it). lol.

True... I'm currently in the form of a swarm of a bunch of salt-hating creepies however.
Hundreds of pounds of salt landing on me would not be pleasant.
lol.

Also I'd rather have a zombie Megapede to follow me around.
I was hoping make the silly thing a zombie and then later awaken it, and then include it in my creation of a undead-vermin hive mind. lol.

Hmm yeah. I think this thing may be out of my league.
