Is this ever clarified?

In Origins of the PCs.
He decided to shave before going bald.

Plus, you could even deduce it without Origin of PCs. Just go back and look at the flashback scene where he is staring at his hilt right after Xykon breaks his sword. He has hair!

Also, Eugene mentions it in Origin of PCs(that Roy shaves his head) as the poster before me mentioned.

Yeah. He decided to "beat genetics to the punch."

Also, it looks cool.

He also says it in the preface for Don't Split the Party.

But the real question is "Has he gone bald since starting to shave his head?".

Like that Seinfeld episode where the guy decided to grow his hair back and became depressed because he "now" he was really bald.

...As opposed to everyone else who shaves their head - they're all already bald as coots, but just do it for the ritual? :smallconfused:

Roy did it for his swimteam. (Think aero-dymanic!)

While in the closet Roy says this (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0235.html) in the first panel.

That doesn't really tell us anything, just that Roy doesn't have hair, which we know. The question is whether it's naturally gone or shaved off. Either way, the Belt didn't bring it back.

Anyway, Origin/SOD spoiler:

Roy shaved his head in college, 7 years before the online strip begins. SOD shows Eugene graduating college with a full head of hair, losing a little bit over his 4-year apprenticeship, then going bald over the next few years. If we assume Roy's genetics give him the same progression, he'd probably have a M-shaped receding hairline by now. Not sure how far it would have progressed.

If he was shaven it would have returned by magic. That is what magic does is return you to original condition. So even in the scene where he comes back he is still bald (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0665.html).

Well, now he might be bald. But whenever we had evidence of his approach to hair, it was implied that he had it. That includes War&XPs, which was only days before he died.

Healing Spells that return you fully to your original state are the stuff that regrow limbs and remind you that cancer is only a disease because it's your body being retarded about itself...what a lovely prospect, don't you think so?

Also, hair is dead matter. For all we are concerned, hair and nails are not included in healing spells' range, though their roots are.

Also, if he was shaven he would probably have a stubble like belkar or just a slightly darker section were his hair should be, one the sapphire guild has it, but i don't remember who.

Um, no, in this case what magic does is turn you into a girl. Scalp hair is not a sexual characteristic, so the belt didn't do anything to it. If Roy had had a beard it would have disappeared, because facial hair is.

And Resurrection did restore him to his original state, or rather the state he was when he died - alive and hairless.
