Your nomadic lifestyle is quickly comming to an end. Your people seek to begin a new life, as a proud civilization. Your destiny as a great kobold leader begins here and now.

The surronding area is mostly mountains. Mountains and more mountains as far as the eye can see. However, not too far below these mountains lays an open plains with a large lake resting in the middle. The mountains to the north are covered in snow and ice, unlike the dry rock you stand on now.

Events!- Turn 1

* Your people seek to begin construction on your new civilization soon. However they are unsure where would be best to begin their new life, and turn to you, their glorious leader for guidance. They also ask what their new civilizations name shall become.

* Your people are worried about protection, being so small they are prey to most things in the area.

* A few younger kobold were heard arguing over some animals remains, the two kobold werent seen again.

(You get 1 action + as many events this turn, per turn. So 4 this turn. No action HAS to be spent resolving an event, although it helps.)

Quickstep, the kobold chief.

Quickstep looked over the area and his tribe proudly. They were small, but they were... not strong... what was the word... many, yeah, that was it, many.

The problem was finding a home for so many of the tribe. A place where they can be safe from enemies, and yet still gain access to food and water.

Quickstep addressed his tribe using the Ritual of gaining attention

"QUIET!"

Quickstep smirked at all the stunned faces, the Ritual always worked.

"Yip." he began in the traditional fashion. "Many people have wondered, yip, where we should live and, yip, how we can be safe, yip yip." Quickstep looked over the trip and frowned slightly, some of the younger hatching's were missing. "We will live where it is safe. Underground, yip. We'll build caves and tunnels, yip yip, big enough for us, but too small for our enemies yip. We'll start in these mountains, yip, then create a tunnel to the lake, so that we can tap its water from underground, yip yip." Quickstep allowed the silent admiration of the tribe to wash over him for a few moments before continuing "We shall call ourselves, yip, the Scale Tribe, yip yip."

Finished with his speech he dismisses the tribe with the Ritual of Departing
"I'm finished so go away!"

He then seeks out several of the more helpful kobolds, Quickwit, a cousin of Quickstep's, and Sharpeyes. "Yip, a few of the young are missing, I want you to find out whats happened to them. Yip yip. Well, go on, go find them!"

Actions:
1) Creation of digging tools from wood and rock./or maybe naming the civi, is an action :S
2) The start of the new underground living complex, starting in the mountains, using small space to allow the kobolds enough freedom to move but preventing anything larger then them having a easy time of it.
3) A tunnel leading down from the mountains to the lake, designed to be flooded to create an underground lake.
4) A search party sent out to locate the missing young.

Events!- Turn 2
(naming is not an action. If it takes a day or longer it's an action)

* The newly found scale tribe takes up residence in the mountains cave network, building mouse-holes within the caves to give you more exploring range. Your civilization is still small, but large enough to hold your population

* Within a week everyone is fitted out with makeshift digging tools. The tools, although poor, get the job done.

* The project to form an underground lake is taking far longer then expected, and won't reach completion for at least three months.

* Those who search for the younglings find a large crevas in the mountain. It seems the missing kobold had fallen in. Only one body was recovered.

* Lack of food is hurting your people. Although no deaths yet, your people are upset by the lack of natural resources.

Quickstep, the kobold chief.

Things were coming together nicely, slowly, but nicely. Food was a problem, always was if you were a kobold. The problem was, how to feed so many mouths. After all Quickstep was hoping for a large tribe, not for a small silly one.

Moving through the caves Quickstep grabs Quickwit and Goodthinker. "Yip." He says addressing them in the polite manner. "We need food, yip yip. I want you two to take a team of kobolds down to the plains and start hunting food. Look for meat or plant. So long as we can eat it, yip yip."

Quickstep marches on past the kobolds and hunts down Sharpeyes.

"Yip. I want you to take a team of kobolds and explore the mountains and crevas for resources we can use. Anything really, but stuff we can stuff from, or food and stuff would be best, yip."

Leaving Sharpeyes Quickstep wonders through the caves till he gets to the work to the lakes he stares at the work for a little while before commenting generally. "Yip, we'll be needing better tools, yip."

Actions:
Hunting mission for food in the plains.

Search mission in the mountains for resources.

Improvement to mining equipment.

Advancement of digging knowledge.

Hunting mission to the mountains for food.

Construction of underground lake.

A month passes, and your people grow. Food has become an obvious issue now, as your tribe begins to fall due to malnourishment. A party has been set down the mountains, to search the plains for resources, they have yet to return. The mountain holds many surprises, few of them good. You have found the occasional root or berry to feed your people, but this will only stem their suffering. Productivity has fallen due to malnourishment, however your people manage to continue advancing your technologies and abilities. The kobolds learn to set up supports in their tunnels to reduce the chance of a cave-in.

Events! Turn 3- (Month 2, Summer)
* The underground lake projects continues, although production is slowed, and it will not be for another Two and a half months till you see results.

* Your tribes numbers fall considerably in the passing month. Your people worry for their survival.

* A search party has uncovered unprocessed ore and shiney rocks deeper into the mountain.

* An expedition deeper into the mountains unearths nocturnal insect-like creatures. The beasts prove a threat to your people, but so far you have warded them off.

Quickstep, the kobold chief.

Qucksteps stomach rumbled. This wasn't going the way he had planned at all, his people were hungry, he was hungry.

A hungry kobold was an angry kobold.

When told of a race of insect like creatures Quickstep knew what to do. "Yip! FOOD! We will make sharp pointy weapons and we will hunt them and we will eat them! Then we'll work out what to do with them!"

His mind was so focused on food he found he had trouble concentrating on what was happening, it was for this reason that he agreed to allow the team tunneling to the lake to take samples of the new ores and learn what use they have.

Actions
1) Creation of hunting weapons, spears, throwing spears, nets if possible, and small hand axes/picks

2) Mass production of hunting weapons.

3) Sending large armed hunting parties to attack the insect creatures during the day, or if that proves problematic, then during early morning.

4) Sending an armed party down to the plains to look for food.

5) Have a team collect samples of the ore and shiney rocks to try to learn there properties.

Another month passes, although you barely notice in the dank darkness of your peoples mountain. The insectoid creatures do not seem immediately hostile, and your hunters return with a few carcasses for dinner. The creatures are large enough, that if threatened, they could overwhelm your tribe, but if handled correctly will prove to be a generous asset. One carcass fed your tribe for a week.

Events! Turn 4- (Month 3, Summer)

* Your insectoid neighbors have migrated, tracking them has become more tasking.

* Many weapons are produced from stone and vine, making weighted nets, Slings, and stone knives.

* The ore has been identified as Copper

* Dark rumors are spreading among your people. Rumors of a terrible beast laying dorment at the heart of the mountain. A small "religion" has formed around a beast your people have come to call Pun Pun

Quickstep, the kobold chief.

Things were getting better. Not great, but better. While some food was good, more food would clearly be better.

But the Food was running away. Quickstep knew alot about running away. He was personally quiet skilled at it. However when food ran away, he knew what to do.

Quickstep told his plans to the kobolds, making sure to avoid the topic of Pun Pun. Quickstep wasn't sure what to do about him yet. Prehaps another scouting party would be needed.

Actions:

Creation of animal living areas in the cave network.

Capture of several insect breeding pairs.

Attempt Domestication of insects.

Experimentation with copper to see if it can be made into tools and weapons.

Armed scouting party sent to the northern mountains in search of more food.

The months change once more, and with it come a change in the seasons. The first sign of change is when the temperture drops. Your sensitive lizard skin, and cold-blooded...blood...Becomes more sensitive as icy winds begin to form around the mountains. Thankfully, however, you manage to capture and begin breeding the insectoid creatures. This will hopefully keep your people fed throughout the colder seasons.

Events! Turn 5- (Month 4, Fall)

* Your insectoid livestock manages to multiply considerably in only a months time. You now have a surplus of food thanks to the rapidly breeding beasts.

* Attempting to both capture, breed, domesticate, and house the insectoid livestock becomes difficult with the seasons change. Your people will not have the living areas completed for at least another month.

* Some of your insectoid livestock have escaped! This is only a minor setback to your food source.

* Your people have quickly learnt that mixing heat and metal brings impressive results, however there has been no permanant advancements with the copper yet. You estimate at least another two months before you see results.

Actions:
1) Continue work on underground lake

2) Continue work on underground living complex, housing is to be of focus, second only to defense.

3) Keep working on copper to see what can be done with it.

4) experiment with insect bodies to see if warm clothing can be made form it.

5) Send small armed search party out in search of water springs in the mountains starting in the area around the cave complex, then heading northwards.

-------------
Quickstep, the kobold chief.

Quickstep huddled against the harsh frozen wind, he looked out from one of the tunnel exits looking out at the plains below. It had been two months since the first parties were sent down to the plains. Something must have happened to them. Quickstep prayed the second team would be able to locate them safely. However they too had been away for a month now.

A kobolds life is to live against all the odds, this did not mean they did not suffer. Quickstep frowned as he saw the harsh weather coming. He doubted the kobolds stuck on the plains would be able to shelter against the coming winter.

"May Pun Pun protect you."

With that, Quickstep retreated back inside the complex.

Another month passes, and your civilization sees little progress. This is to be expected however, as the winter months close in fast. The kobolds have succesfully manage to house, and tame the insectoid livestock. They are proving a constant source for food. Unfortunately even kobolds get tired of eating the same old meat. Your people watch as their tunnel-esque homes expand over the month.

Events! Turn 6- (Month 5, Fall)

* The underground lake is making considerable progress. Your people estimate another Month before your people have access to a constant source of fresh water.

* The kobolds continue research on coppers, and have officially developed the practise of "smelting". Unfortunately it will still be another month before any real progress is made with the ore.

* Your experiments with the insectoid's chitinous plating has mixed results. Although you fail to create warming clothing your people do manage to form the plating into makeshift armors. Your advisers tell you there may be a way to expand these practises.

* It has been months and yet no one has return from the plains, or the northern mountains.

* Your people grow in size quickly. Although this has yet to affect your food source it has led to in-fighting for housing in the warmer areas of the mountains. This infighting has led to deaths, and shows no signs of ending.

5) Study of mountain and underground networks to discover how to increase the temperature underground, maybe dig deeper?
6) Another armed exploration team is sent out to search the mountains to the east, looking for food sources and animals.

RP will be added later.

Quickstep walked along the caves, life was looking better for the kobolds. They had shelter, food and soon they'll have as much water as they need. There was a problem however. Something was out there. To the north and on the plains. Whatever it was, was preventing the kobolds sent to these regions from returning.

Lost in thought Quickstep wondered into some of the hotter cave systems and witnessed to his amazement a small fight between a few kobolds over a small den. The fight was quick and brutal with one kobold limping off injured, the other not moving at all. Quickstep reflected on this. Perhaps if this aggression could be trained and focused, then they could finally find out what was happening on the plains....

Another month passes, and the mountain grows colder. However many breakthroughs off set this, gaining great reasurance in your people. The under-ground tunnels are flooded by the lake system. This forms a series of under ground rivers leading into a single lake that your people can now access. Unfortunately this flooded a few homes. The research in copper smithing has provided interesting results. A kobold has mimiced the shape of a bone knife with the copper, allowing for more improved tools. (Copper tools)
Your people begin toying with the notion of how to adapt the chitinous armor to their specific forms. So far nothing has been shown. Finally your people have an increadible breakthrough with exploring the mountain. A large source of heat has been unearth. Although your people are unsure of WHERE the source is, they understand that it is causing waves of heat to trickle throughout your tunnels.

On the unfortunate side of this months events, your peoples attitudes have dropped considerably due to housing being reduced thanks to flooding. Just as well, gaurenteeing homes to the fighting factions and giving them special treatment is not bodding well with the populace as a whole.

Events! Turn 7- (Month 6, Fall)

* Your peoples attitude is turning for the worse. The possibility of anarchy has arised.

* The insectoid creatures seem to be reacting poorly to the change in temperature. Some have began to die-off.

* Copper Tools have been manufactured improving over-all projects speed and results.

Quickstep the Kobold chief

Realizing that anarchy was looming Quickstep consider what options he had had his disposal. He had food and water, not much food, but some, he had a constant supply of water, he had this new copper to work with. It was what the tribe needed to survive, but it apparently wasn't enough. The kobolds wanted more. Of what, they probably didn't even know.

Rules, Quickstep decided, that's what they were lacking. Rules and people to enforce them. Not mean or stupid laws, but common sense laws that everyday kobolds follow anyway. Stuff like don't steal from other kobolds, don't kill kobolds, don't push kobolds down long shafts to see how deep it is. Common sense really. Quickstep quickly began to write down some laws and sought help in the creation of more laws by advertising the creation of laws to all kobolds.

After this, Quickstep decided the people needed cheering up. Winter had been long and hard on the kobolds, now it was a time of rebirth, new found strength. And so the kobolds must be reminded of this, with a festival. Quickstep put the plans into motion and spread the word, soon a magnificent festival would take place, hailing the beginning of the new era of kobolds.

Actions:
1) Creation of a set of laws, and the installment of a police force.
2) rapid construction of new living quarters/animal holding cells close to this new heat source, care is to be taken to ensure that no living area is to close to the heat.
3) continue study of chitinous armor
4) Hold a festival and parties to help improve moral. It is to celebrate the new found heat source and the completion of the water tunnel.

The comming of a new season brings with it a change to the world as you know it. Outside the mountain the rocks begin to be coated in deep, freezing snow. Most trees, animals, and other reasources either die or hibernate during the cold, however this barely effects the kobold people.

Your people are uneasy adopting a set of laws. It is proven time and again your people are very... chaotic. However the changes are made, and your people drudgingly obey them for the time being.

The change in temperature seems to be aiding the livestock and the citizens in both vitality and survival.

Finally the study of chitinous armor continues. It seems to be a far too awkward process for your people to pick up on quickly, but progress is being made.

Events! Turn 8 (month 9, Winter)

* Your people have managed to survive the winter, and the warmer seasons are just on the horizon, as is a new year!
