if i do not go through with the Wizard of High Sorcery PrC (dragonlance campaign setting) i will be hunted by the conclave. There are some nice bonus's with the PrC... however i would lose another school (banned Necromancy and enchantment for the muter)

i have been given the okay around 12th level to take war weaver all the way to 17. should i head into the PrC (wizard of high sorc) now? or just stick muter all the way to 12?

currently level 6. idea behind the muter is a grapple based party buffer.

ideas?

Why will you be hunted by the Conclave? I don't think it mentions anywhere that you have to take levels in the PrC to be part of the Towers. All you have to do is pass the Test. I would point that out to the DM before making up your mind.

campaign hook prolly

take a level, roll epic diplomacys, make them love you
then get the hell outta there, and still be able to call them for backup

later versions just cut out the need for the extra school loss, they just flat droped it from the Towers of High Sorcery write ups. Just get rid of the +1 to DC and it's a perfectly valid PrC.

which later versions? cuz if there is a more current version... that would be key. i believe the version we are looking at is 3.0. can you source a book?

In the copy that I'm looking at of "Towers of High Sorcery" it says:

Arcane Focus:
Upon passing the Test of High Sorcery, a wizard has the option of narrowing the focus of his arcane power in accordance with the traditions of his order.

emphasis mine

so just take the PrC and choose not to use this optional focus.

is there a revised version because my book says

"Upon passing the Test of High Sorcery, a wizard increases his devotion to his chosen school of specialization. At 1st level, a Wizard of High sorcery casts all spells from that school at a +1 caster level. In addition, he gains a +1 bonus of saving throws against schools from his specialist school and spell-link abilities (but not supernatural abilities) that duplicate such spells.
In exchange for this enhanced focus on one school, the wizard must
give up one additional school of magic, chosen from among the schools that the other two orders of High Sorcery specialize in..."

is there a revised version?

edit: this is from the Dragonlance Campaign setting.

The "Towers of High Sorcery" is a later product, which has an updated version of the PrC.

There's also an aside section in the book on possible future/past worlds which lays out the same idea after giving Dalamars stat block as a generalist.
