So how much boob is too much for these forums? Is it just the nipple that's bad? For example, what about a full boob with no nipple? Or does there have to be something over some part of the boob to make it okay?

Before this gets locked with an "err on the side of caution", I'd really like a ruling one way or the other on "nippleless bare boob". There's a piece of art I really liked and want to share, and I've already posted at least one thing (of my own making) that's a bare-chested by nippleless female, but the thread I want to post it in has gotten a final warning so I don't want to risk it without a confirmation that it'd be alright.

I say we set up a range of images, from entirely innocent to extremely explicit--a gradient, if you will. Send one copy to Roland and the other one to me.

Actually, give me two copies.
(Not actually suggesting we do this. Unless, like, you've got the images lying around. In which case, slip them under my door in a brown paper envelope.)

I think there's rationale for erring on the side of caution. LiveJournal got in an imbroglio a while back because they decided that the law required them to remove pictures of women breastfeeding, which obviously didn't show nipples because there was a baby attached to them. They were accused of overreaction, but it's easy to sympathize with the diversity of laws regarding exposure of pornography to children.

Yeah, those Dungeons & Dames threads, while wildly popular, are a tad riske. I'm not surprised that they toe the line of acceptability. I'd err on the side of caution, & refrain from embedding the image (anyone wanna explore the pun potential there?). If you simply must share, perhaps a simple link would suffice, prefaced with a warning to easily-offended eyes (which aren't in my sockets, but are obviously peeping about).

Leaving aside the suggestion regardin your personal copy (:smalltongue:), I don't know...
If you have a doubt, probably you just know the answer. Sending copies to Roland is ok, but he usually examine a lot of things and private message about reporting posts, request for threads, etc.
Uploading images on Mods' private mailboxes means additional work for 'em, but obviously I've no right to speak for anyone.
(even if, in this particular case, probably Roland will appreciate some nice boobs...)

I can't think of any red-blooded male who wouldn't appreciate a nice pair of boobs.

Dude, this sort of post is why it'll inevitably be shot down.

The way I see it, as long as no nipples are showing it's okay. I find it ridiculous that a picture of, for example, a woman who's topless but turned back to the camera and with absolutely no naughty bits showing will inevitably draw comments in the vein of "aah, my eyes, that's nsfw and against the forum rules". Last time I checked these forums were classified as PG-13, not G.

In my opinion, which is in every way identical to forum rules, drawings are less objectionable than photos. An illustration of boobs with no nipple should be okay, even if a photo of the same boobage isn't.

Exercise your best judgment. Listen to the better angels of one's nature and look to be the most appropriate not the closest to the line between appropriate and inappropriate. When in doubt, don't post it because it's hard to imagine any single post being so important as to risk one's general ability to post here - particularly in the context of "there's a picture that I really want to share." Which is all just a verbose way to say what you already know, err on the side of caution.

So, if push comes to shove and I'm forced to answer, I'd say no, don't post it. Though there's no crystal clear line one can give you that applies to all instances - the circumstances matter. (Is it a real person with the nipples 'shopped out? Is it a draconic race covered in scales (but having mammaries apparently)? Is the image clinical/technical or fantastic or eroticized? There are probably tons of similar questions that would go into a the holistic analysis involved.)

Which is why we say, please avoid making us spend time making these decisions and issuing Warnings/Infractions for things you had a good idea were of questionable appropriateness when you posted them.

Sheriff of Moddingham: Err on the side of caution and when in doubt, don't post it.
