How would you deal with running a blind character in D&D? What feats or spells are actually able to compensate for blindness in 3.5?

I played a blind warlock for a little while, but I worked with the dm to make a blindsight invocation to make up for it. It was pretty interesting. Not sure if this is the least bit helpful to you.

Touchsight (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/touchsight.htm), Synesthete (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/synesthete.htm) are two powers off the top of my head that would allow you to use another sense instead of sight.

Hmm, I was thinking that this character would be a Diviner, but I think that a blind seer would work even better!

I just posted it in the other thread, but here is the last blindsense thread I saw. You might just try asking your DM to create a trait giving you blindness + minor blindsense.

I actually had a character concept involving this ugh, Drawback. :-)
Now it was for a melee gent, so two feats where involved, Blindfight helps, but the real money is when it is combined with the feat Hear the Unseen. It lets you pinpoint all all enemies with a hearing check. Or some such awesomeness. I'd say more but I'm AFB atm.

I'd look at a little monster race in the MM by the name of grimlock and see how those things handle encounters.

Also look into the Mindbender prestige class, following which you go looking for a little feat called Mindsight. Heartily makes up for having no eyes. :)

Blindfight, Hear the Unseen (CAd).

If you go with a psionic character, you can get a Psicrystal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/monsters/psicrystal.htm). It can see, and you can talk to it telepathically. You'd probably want something like Touchsight for fights so you don't have to deal with line of sight issues, but for day-to-day stuff a seeing eye crystal would probably work pretty well.

A Druid with Share the Husk (Lvl 2 spell from SC) would allow you to see through your pets eyes - for a few minutes at least. This could have interresting flavour.
Spirit Shamen is harder because you have no animal companion, even though you can access the spell.
