I haven't played any Sonic games, but if his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is any indication, I vastly prefer Mario.

Mario's definitely held up better over the years, and I never really liked any of the sonic games..

Mario for me.
The old Mario games are still insanely playable after all these years. And the character works equally well in the new games, thanks to the innovations of Mario 64.

The old Sonic games are cool, make no mistake. The character just doesn't have the same staying power as Mario, I think.

Mario. Though NEITHER are really my thing. I prefer the the virtual console Mario games vastly, of course.

The battle goes thus: They start fighting, and the combat is pretty equal. Then as they're going to make a mighty clash, Sonic Team headshots Sonic with a sniper rifle and cripples him forever.

Yes, I'm still annoyed at some of the titles in the Sonic series :smalltongue:.

Unfortunatley, I agree. They made knockoffs of both, but at least the Mario games stay the same. The Sonic games keep changing and adding new people...Mr.T or Chuck Norris???

In this sort of choice, for me, it all comes down to the question "which has better music?"

Considering I have the entire soundtracks of about three different Sonic games, I am going to have to say Sonic because OH MY it is so much better. Mega Drive and Dreamcast games preferably.
