I remember seeing a sort of... star-lion-thing. It has five or six legs surrounding it's head--a lion head.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I know I've seen this before, and I keep thinking it's from greek mythology. I looked it up as best I could and came up with nothing.

The Roving Mauler is based on Buer, a daemon from mythology. I can't recall the exact source of the mythological beastie though.

The Buer, from the Lesser Key of Solomon, a text on Demonology. Wikipedia should have more.

Edit: woah. Ninja'd by half an hour. Guess that's what I get for leaving tabs open for so long.

Yes, the Lesser Key of Solomon. The exact part is called "Ars Goetia".
Buer is the 10th spirit, and President of Hell. Specializes in Medicine, Philosohpy, logic, and Familiars.

I recall something about him commanding legions, but I can't recall how many.

I think nothing is bad about Buer.

@Crimmy: I have yet to check out Buer (I think I first saw him in a book I own), but demons with legions usually control about thirty. At least... the ones I have looked at control around thirty. Now I have to find that book... ("Who in Hell", I think it was called)
