I enjoy making book covers in Photoshop, so I thought I'd share some of them with all you guys!

Truthfully, out of all of them, only The Wolves of Autumn looks like it could be a real cover. The others kind of give off a feeling that they are Photoshop creations.

And Myrmidon, to a lesser extent.

But even if they don't all look like real book covers, they're still nice.

Really? Because personally, I think MYRMIDON is the weakest of them. I wasn't very satisfied with it.

You need to add fake author names to make it look more realistic. And maybe some false critic quotes and stuff.

Yeah, this. It looks more like your visualization of a book rather than an actual cover. It seems you follow a fairly standard template, blurry picture background with the title and some sort of symbol betwixt. I do agree that Myrmidon and The Wolves of Autumn look the best though.

I removed my name from the cover because I did not wish to reveal my secret identity.

The "standard template" is deliberate; these are intended to be the "covers" for a series of books, and I wanted the thematic commonality of having the symbol in the center. Believe me, if you knew what the books were about, you would find it all <SARCASM>very deep</SARCASM>.

I write books about monsters and Nazis and robots. I make crappy covers with Photoshop in my spare time. I do not profess to be a particularly serious or profound person.

The title masthead is a bit too glowy and neon, but other than that, yeah, I think it works.

After those two, I would pick Evolver and The Lost City of the Monster Brothers, although the text placement in the latter has some issues.

That does explain a lot, although I would suggest you put a pseudonym on the cover so we can see the cover completed.

Overall, they're good, but they could definitely use some work.

You seem to be missing 4 and 6... any reason they aren't up here?

Yes. I haven't made them yet. :smalltongue:

Nice. I once made a fake Xbox game cover. I don't have the .psd or image file anymore. Too bad, it looked great.

Number 6 is the most realistic yet.

No.12 doesn't seem to read quite right.

Or is the book's name really "The Shadow of the 'We watch because we care' bomb"?
If it is, disregard my whining.

I think no. 12 is supposed to be
"The Shadow of the Bomb"

while "We watch because we care" is supposed to be some catchy, mysterious tagline that gets put there to make you more interested by making you wonder "who is watching? why do they care? what does this have to do with a bomb? maybe I should buy it" kinda thing.

Yeah, I felt No. 12 was a little busy, but I really wanted to put that tagline in there. I think I'll make a version without it.

No. 11: Magical Mystery Stories. This one's a double cover, front and back. I've broken it down so that the details for each cover are more visible.

I think the ones that look best are the ones where the title is all together, instead of spread all across the page.
