Man, I've gotten too used to Endurance rounds. I keep getting surprised by PMs pointing to a 2nd chance in a double-elimination round.

Interesting concept, Skrag. Will be fun to see how it works out.

Svejer: where is "Jotunbrud" from? Also, you would appear to have 3 flaws and 1 trait rather than 2 of each...

@PsiDog
Neither of us has much chance of resisting Skrag's various frightening ways. On the upside, he has to roll a 13 to keep from catching on fire, so there is that... Svejer will be a problem if he can get right up to one of us, with the size difference. At least his AC is absurdly low. Think obscuring mist would be worth it? They're both murky-eyed, but so am I.

Darwin
2010-04-22, 12:29 PM
@Vollmond: Yeah, it's a shame I didn't get the chance to try it out during my last battle. But since my original partner never showed up for the match I had my hands too full to attempt a scare-off tactic.

As for Svejer, he has the flaws listed further down, in the bottom of that column.

vollmond
2010-04-22, 12:37 PM
What I mean is, one of his "traits" (Murky-Eyed) is actually a flaw.

vollmond
2010-04-22, 12:40 PM
I should mention, that's fine with me :smallsmile: since he's not getting anything good out of it, but it may be worth addressing.

You're right! I'll give him a call and check what's up with that. :smallwink:

Got 9gp left, got nothing to buy. :smalltongue:
Jotunbrud is from Races of Faerûn..

Still thinking on purchases

@vollmond
The trick here is to stay as far away as possible from those two and be ready to do non-lethal damage.

Scrag's 20-30ft range fear and javelins are all they have for range. If he gets close and frightens one of us things get... interesting, but since a frightened creature will calm down sooner then later it isn't a straight loss.

Svejer is dangerous. If he gets a grapple started getting back out may be impossible without a really good escape artist roll. Distance and a high touch AC may be the best defense against him.

Obscuring mist might be useful if we have the time, but I'm thinking we'll want to do as much damage as we can as fast as we can.

If we can reach and scatter the bridge before they can cross it that might buy us another two rounds before they can attack us- and at their low AC two rounds is all we'd need to kill one of them. :smallamused:

@PsiDog
I won initiative -- if I pop a Swift Expeditious Retreat, I can scatter the planks on my first turn. Turn after that I can drop back into cover and shoot someone. I'll be exposed there right at the beginning, but not much to do about that.

Psionic Dog
2010-04-23, 12:21 PM
@vollmond
They aren't ranged fighters and can't get closer than 50ft in the first round I think we should be ok, or at least better than if they make it over the bridge.

Anything Twang ought to buy aside from more masterwork bolts?

vollmond
2010-04-23, 05:31 PM
@PsiDog
Not that I can think of. Looks like we just play tactical retreat until they die or catch up. Jack has blunt arrows for once we have them into low HP ranges. I think we're good to go.

Whisper to Twang
Skrag is down to negative hit points. He's prone with cover now, though. By my count, that should be Svejer unconscious now. If this isn't the case, I need to revise the rest of my turn to actually do something.

Eh? You should have nonlethal damage greater than your current hit points, which equals unconscious. Rageclaws can't defeat that, fortunately (for me :smallsmile:)

StarWee
2010-04-28, 10:03 AM
But lethal damage and non lethal damage are calculated seperately :)

so you still need to deal 5 more nonlethal damage to me before i go down :)

TheFallenOne
2010-04-28, 10:10 AM
no, Vollmond is right here.

When you take nonlethal damage, keep a running total of how much you’ve accumulated. Do not deduct the nonlethal damage number from your current hit points. It is not "real" damage. Instead, when your nonlethal damage equals your current hit points, you’re staggered, and when it exceeds your current hit points, you fall unconscious. It doesn’t matter whether the nonlethal damage equals or exceeds your current hit points because the nonlethal damage has gone up or because your current hit points have gone down.

You have 4 nonlethal and your HP are at -5, so down you go
