What is the deal with ur-priests? I understand that they get level 9 spells at level 15, two levels earlier than anyone else, but does this make them any more broken in a complete build?

Only if you use it to do some like, say, double 9s, or even triple 9s.

Their caster level is worded funny. So a PrC which advances casting actually gives them a CL boost of 1.5. Not as broken as double or triple nines, but it adds insult to injury.

It really only gets *really* bad when you add in dual-progression classes, that now allow you to get all that ur-priest casting without costing you significant caster levels in *another* spell-casting class, like wizard.

Actually, there... are builds that can get in early, or push higher faster.
They're pretty exotic though, so I wouldn't worry about it.

The issue with ur-priest is that those first five levels can be anything you want. It's not that they get 9ths 2 levels sooner, it's that they need 10 fewer caster levels.

wizard/ur priest/ that mystic guy (theurge?) can give you both arcane and divine level 9 spells.

And that's just a basic one I'm sure it can be made a lot cheesier.
